There have been countless interviews from pretty much every cast member of David Ayer's Suicide Squad, but the one person that has been pretty much silent is Jared Leto. With Leto taking on the iconic role of the Joker, all eyes are on him now, and during his latest visit on Ellen, the actor spoke about what it was like taking on the role of the Clown Prince of Crime. "I got the call and was invited to play The Joker, which was terrifying and exciting and an honor," said the method actor. "It was really the most fun I've ever had on a film in my life; I had a blast. It was a real honor to get asked to play the part. These characters are so special to people and I have a lot of respect for that."

It'll be interesting to see what new and different things Leto will introduce to the character in his version of the Joker. We've already heard the actor's version of the Joker laugh from the recent trailer for Suicide Squad, and it's very different to what we've heard before. Pretty much any footage involving the Joker have only been snippets. So until we see more, we can only imagine what his Joker will truly be like. Are you excited to see Jared Leto as the Joker in Suicide Squad and possibly future DC films?

Pretty sure they will 'kill him off' like they did in the animated Suicide Squad film.

Harley's origin is being made the focal point of the film and with her being set-up as apparently the main character in female-led films, it doesnt make much sense to do that and have Joker still alive and kicking at the end of this film. Her 'progression' will probably be getting some form of revenge on the Joker.

I think Harley or Deadshot will kill him - probably in a way that everyone believes he's dead, but chances are he'll end up returning in the Suicide Squad sequel that we'll get if this film makes bank.

He has some big shoes to fill. Don't screw this up, Leto. I'm counting on you.

I can't wait to see Leto as The Joker, but Mark Hamill will always be my favorite Joker.

Really looking forward to Leto's performance, and this movie in general, I have veryVERY good feelings about Suicide Squad.

I know there's a lot of skepticism because of BVS but the trailers alone should indicate how different (and awesome) this will be.

As with most things, there will be zero bitching about the tattoos if he kills his performance.

@MattBellissimo - i'm not even mad about this damage tatoo. Joker is a gangsta type now. something more in a vein of Azzarello work mixed with Marylin Manson or some rap artists (hello pop culture).

@jerryblake - Yup, its a different take. The thing "definitive" about the Joker is his laugh and visual inidicators. Other than that, he's been subject to numerous personality changes and visual overhauls in the comics. Shouldn't be any different with the movies.

@jerryblake - That being said, I can see why the look isn't for everyone, BUT I will judge based on the performance.

@MattBellissimo - Even if the performance is great, i'm still going to hate the tattoo's. A great performance doesnt change the fact his design is terrible.

Doomsday seemed very effective in BvS, killing Superman and destroying a large area - but nobody cares about that because he looked like ass. The same will happen here, it might actually be more difficult for people to enjoy the performance if they are distracted by obnoxious tattoo's.

@Scarilian - That's fair dude. Like I said, I get why it could be distracting. For me, Doomsday was a combination of being shoehorned in to a movie where (I felt) he didn't belong, along with an abysmal physical appearance. I've liked everything I've seen from Leto, performance-wise, which allows me to look past the visual things that people may not like. It was the same with Ledger.

But again, everyone isn't me...to each their own.

looks good ... Leto looks good (i'm not even getting grumpy because of his tatoos), the movie looks good. i hope this will be different from Assault on Arkham. i wouldn't want to see them recycling the animated movie.

@jerryblake - doesn't look likely, but if it was, I'd be happy

@jerryblake - I'd definitely expect some plot points in there. I think them releasing that animated film was to test the waters with the audience.

@MattBellissimo - (minor SPOILER)

think we gonna see a scene where Bruce is pretending to be Deadshot ? i think they went for it in animated movie ... not sure though.
MattBellissimo
MattBellissimo - 5/19/2016, 5:50 AM
@jerryblake - He was pretending to be Black Spider, not Deadshot.

And no, I think we'll be getting way less Batman than we did in AOA

He will do a great job as Joker and I can't wait to see BatFlek punch him a bunch. The problem is though, now that this Batman has no problem killing, how do you explain him NOT killing a mass serial killer like the Joker. It's like DC painted themselves in a corner with that choice.
jerryblake
jerryblake - 5/19/2016, 6:05 AM
@Buckster10 - yeah. they kinda [frick]ed this up. the point of Joker being alive in the comics was (mostly, i guess) thanks to Batman "no killing rule". it's getting even more illogical if Robin is supposed to be death, killed by Joker. The only way to get out of this situation is imo make him still alive/kidnapped by Joker and let Batman be aware of it. Bruce searching for kidnapped Robin would be probably only logical explanation about why he did not kill the clown prince yet.
