Although 2016's
Suicide Squad wasn't loved by critics (or fans for the most part), it still grossed an impressive $745 million even with a roster of b-list villains. One of the biggest letdowns of the film was Cara Delevigne's Enchantress as the main antagonist, and director
David Ayer has now
admitted that he'd rather The Joker took that role.
During a
Twitter conversation, Ayer states that he "agonizes" over the fact that The Clown Prince of Crime wasn't featured as the movie's big bad.
"It was better than BVS. Joker should have been the Villian. Throw in Riddler like Assault on Arkham from the Animated Universe." one Twitter user says.
Ayer responds with, "Believe me. I agonize over this. Yes. Joker should have been main bad guy."
There's no doubt that Ayer regrets a lot of things that went down with Suicide Squad, but his relationship with DC is not over yet, as he has
Gotham City Sirens in development.
