Earlier this week, The MTV Movie Awards released their nominations for this year and among the nominees was Jared Leto's Joker from WB's Suicide Squad, who received a nomination in the "Best Villain" category. This might come as somewhat of a surprise as his take on the Clown Prince of Crime was met with a mostly negative reception from DC fans. Nevertheless, the producers and executives over at MTV seemed to have no problem with his Joker.

Jared Leto was quite pleased with this latest honor. He took to Twitter and wrote a couple lines incorporated from the movie. Here is the tweet: "Oh, the fire of my loins. The itch in my crotch. The one, the only, infamous MTV Movie Awards - Thank you!!! - Joker."

Fans might remember a slightly different version of those lines from Suicide Squad when the Joker is describing Harley Quinn to a fellow associate in crime at a club.

The nominees for "Best Villain" also include villains from shows like Stranger Things and Negan from The Walking Dead

Here are all of the nominations for "Best Villain":

  • Allison Williams - Get Out
  • Demogorgon - Stranger Things
  • Jared Leto - Suicide Squad
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan - The Walking Dead
  • Wes Bentley - American Horror Story

He's a talented actor. But I didn't enjoy his interpretation of the Joker at all. Hopefully he'll get the opportunity to shine in other DC films

Lose the tattoos and some of the more over the top stuff ( hunka-hunka) and he could be pretty awesome!

He was a Great Joker if only he was written better. And those damn tattoos and teeth. But he had the fear factor of the Joker. Give the guy another chance with Mel Gibson behind the camera.

@McGee - I bet it was so crazy and sadistic he removed all the water bottles and replaced them with Seltzer. Pure insanity.

I also wished we saw more of him, until I saw the cut Harley-Joker scene on the road. I hate saying try-hard, but that was somehow more try-hard than what was already in the movie (which was very little).
