THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Isn't Too Worried About Some Snyder Cut Fans Review Bombing His Movie

Warner Bros. appears to have zero plans to #ReleaseTheAyerCut, and that's upset a lot of SnyderVerse fans. However, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn isn't sweating them review bombing his new movie.

Not every fan of Zack Snyder's work in the DC Extended Universe is toxic, but there is a vocal minority that tends to take things a little too far. We saw that when Godzilla vs. Kong was bombarded with negative one-star reviews on IMDb (most of which were talking about Warner Bros.' failure to #RestoreTheSnyderVerse), but will The Suicide Squad be their next target?

While James Gunn's reboot has received widespread critical acclaim, it's also become something of a mascot for the studio's attempts to move on from Snyder's vision. Why? Well, it's clear Warner Bros. has no plans to #ReleaseTheAyerCut of Suicide Squad, and that movie - despite the supposed major changes made - very much fits into the aesthetic and vision Snyder had for the DC Universe.

While we've only seen a few negative reviews added to sites like IMDb and Letterboxd, one fan asked Gunn how he feels about it, and the filmmaker doesn't appear to be losing any sleep over the matter.

In one of our reviews of The Suicide Squad, we concluded by saying, "It's not a comic book movie classic but you'll have a bloody good time with The Suicide Squad, an action-packed, often hilarious, take on Task Force X that breathes new life into the DC Extended Universe even if it occasionally strikes a bum note."

As for Gunn's thoughts on potential review bombing, he's right in what he's saying here, and we're not banking on negative verdicts managing to overwhelm the positive ones which are sure to start surfacing this weekend.

I thought The Suicide Squad was great! Definitely ooking forward to a sequel with the survivors. Harley was at her best in this. Idris Elba was 🔥 as always. Imo this was better than Black Widow in pretty much every aspect. I can see some people being turned off by the violence though.

@YouCray04 - Ultra violence is easy for me to take if it isn't zombies eating bodies.

One of my favorite examples is Dredd. I wouldn't want to see this kind of violence on a regular basis, but it "is" fun to see it once in a while.

@LSHF - As a big John Wick fan, I concur.

Snyder fans deserve all the awards for being the most insecure and toxic fandom lurking around the internet.

I'll never understand review bombing. It's the weirdest hobby and just outright a waste of time. Then again, I imagine the people who don't do a lot outside of the internet (or outside in general) do have a lot of spare time.

@Waddles - you're already taking this quite a few steps further than me. I'm not even gonna think about what drives them. Either way, it's a sad existence indeed

Nice to know Snyder fanatics aren’t just a-holes about Marvel films.
Looking forward to seeing this movie.
