Starro was first introduced by DC Comics during the Silver Age, and happens to be the first villain defeated by the Justice League of America. While it's hard to imagine the big screen version of that heroic team ever battling the alien who resembles a giant starfish, his ability to take over people's minds by attaching miniature starfish to their faces makes him undeniably formidable.

It's those some fans believe they have spotted in the featurette for The Suicide Squad released over the weekend. At the 00:15 and 00:45 second marks, a closer look appears to reveal downed soldiers with starfish attached to their faces. Honestly, it's hard to imagine what else those might be! 

There's not a better filmmaker than James Gunn to bring Starro to the big screen, and it makes sense for Task Force X to be dispatched against a threat like that. Previously, we were under the impression that Peter Capaldi would be The Suicide Squad's lead foe, but it was confirmed at DC FanDome on Saturday that he's actually a member of the team as the villainous Thinker. 

Using Starro as the movie's big bad promises to be a lot of fun, and explains why the villains are needed to take down all those soldiers in what appears to be a South American country.

Cool, would have liked to see the justice league take him on, but this works, considering starro is more of a plot device than a character, can put more focus on developing the team

@dracula - idk. I think you can make a cool villain with starro. Just not one with a set actor. Think the angel from the fallen meets john carpenter's the thing.

@Origame - yeah there are plenty of cool things to be done with him, just mean he is a character you dont need to put much time into, going into motivations and personality

True. I think an alien enemy like The Thing or Starro definitely gives you a lot of room to develop your characters as well as build up a lot of tension for the unexpected. I'm impressed that Gunn went there, actually. This makes me even more excited.

@Battabing - If he’s king shark they would have announced it already, more likely there’s no voice actor for him yet. Cooper didn’t join Guardians until well after it wrapped.
Also, Taika as King Shark would just be Korg 2.0, I’d rather they do something more fresh here

@Grodd87 - you’re willing to accept a plot about a giant telepathic starfish but you can’t fathom the notion of Superman being too busy or unable to deal with them? Why couldn’t he help in the first movie?

Maybe he’s busy fighting an evil sea cucumber somewhere else.

Starro would just mean half the JL fighting the other because eventually they'll get controlled.

Also my imagination Suicide squad (which I've said many times before) is the squad intercepting an unknown terrorist weapon and by the end of the movie we learn they're in Kandaq and the weapon is actually a dictator by the name of Black Adam who kills a good chunk of the squad at the end whose now goal is to get that info to Waller and the rest of the world.
