WB Would Like To Have The SUICIDE SQUAD Sequel Start Filming By This March

While Jaume Collet-Serra has not officially signed on to helm Suicide Squad 2, Variety is reporting that if he does, Warner Bros. is currently aiming to start filming the sequel in March.

Coming off the success of 2017's Wonder Woman, WB suddenly found themselves with a lot of projects in development but not a whole lot of confirmed release dates on their slate.  That was certainly understandable given the fact that the studio needed to circle the wagons a bit after 2016's PR nightmare of Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But Wonder Woman has led to renewed optimism regarding the DCEU leading into November's release of Justice League.

Aquaman the only DCEU film releasing in 2018 and there's nothing on the slate for 2019 (The Rock's schedule is already jam-packed so we're doubtful Shazam will be released).  Variety's report that WB wants Suicide Squad 2 to start filming in early-2018 makes perfect sense as they need to start confirming their plans for 2019.

Another recent report also states that WB wants Ben Affleck to go in front of the camera in 2018 for his standalone Batman pic.  A Suicide Squad sequel and The Batman would certainly make for a strong year.  There's also the possibility that WB moves the Justice League sequel back to its original June 2019 release date now that The Batman is delayed.

@knocturnalzen10 - Because the reality is they don't think The Flash will make Suicide Squad numbers.

@knocturnalzen10 - I've very curious what is going on with that movie. After seeing Baby Driver Edgar Wright would be who'd I like to see make the Flash film.

Edgar did a great job with making the world really fleshed out and seeing how he could make not only Flash a great character, but making Central City a character too would be fun to watch.

I honestly was surprised how much the world in Baby Driver felt alive and seeing as we all know and love the world of Flash, I feel like that would be easy for him to bring to life.

Great. More WIll Smith being Will Smith in a roll that shouldn't be played like Will Smith by Will Smith.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg

@Pathogen - Will Smith was one of the best parts of an overall mediocre movie.

@Pathogen - But, but Will Smith was the only thing good about that dumpster burner.

@Elayem - So you're not bored seeing WIll Smith playing the same, tired character in uninteresting fashion, even when it doesn't fit the essence of Deadshot? I mean, don't get me wrong...I'm no expert on the Deadshot character...just seems like he should have been more of a lethal badass than wise-cracking trick shooter. Maybe its just me, but it stunk. Couldn't wait to get his face off the screen to see the other characters (and it was a sh*t movie, not mediocre)
