James Gunn Was Offered SUPERMAN By Warner Bros. But Will He Bring Krypto To THE SUICIDE SQUAD?

A new report reveals that James Gunn had his pick of DC Comics adaptations, including a new Superman movie! However, he chose The Suicide Squad but could the filmmaker bring a certain canine to the team?

Earlier this week, we learned that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn will indeed write and direct The Suicide Squad. While the movie is sort of a sequel to David Ayer's movie, the filmmaker is looking to essentially reboot the franchise with a cast made up mostly of new characters (chances are the likes of Harley Quinn and Deadshot could return but who knows).

Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter has now revealed that in a bid to bring Gunn to the DC Extended Universe, Warner Bros. offered him his pick of properties, including - get this - Superman

Unfortunately, it's said that he never seriously considered taking the helm of a Man of Steel sequel but he "did take a shine to the Man of Steel's superpowered dog Krypto during his comics research." Does this mean that Krypto could end up being part of Task Force X?

We know that Gunn is a dog lover and he's no stranger to CGI creations after bringing Rocket and Groot to the big screen. Krypto would also fit right in if we're getting a slightly zanier take on this team and it's easy enough to imagine the government unleashing an obedient animal with the same powers of Superman on its enemies!

Could this tie into that random superpets movie we heard about?

@exirae - If there are kids in the movie, I think Gunn would be interested in "working" with them. I believe he got all the stains out of his priest costume too!

Too soon?

I'm not too sad about hearing this, because Brad Bird, Andrew Stanton, Chris Miller and Phil Lord should do the next Superman movie. I'm happy to hear WB still wants more Superman. The reason I think animated movie directors are the way to go is because they know how to put charm in their films and I think they could pull off a great Superman movie.

Reportedly he was offered DC Super Pets too, and declined.

@Nightwing1015 - season 4. Can't rememeber the exact episode though. Might be the one where Alicia dies.

@BlackBeltJones - Season 4 episode 11. This was the episode where Alicia got out of some psyche ward she got sent to, and gave red kryptonite to Clark to get him to marry her in Vegas. Clark crying in the gif was the result of his parent's being pissed at his decisions to run off with her but also reminded of how lonely he is and never being able to share all of himself with someone that he loves. It was a pretty deep episode, from what I remember. She really did make a impact in his life especially with what happens to her later on.
