We know Black Adam won't be the antagonist for the upcoming Shazam movie, which led fans to believe that they wouldn't get to see Dwayne Johnson bring the popular villain to life until his own solo outing hit theaters. However, a new report now suggests that The Rock may debut as Adam sooner than anyone expected.

According to The Wrap, the plan is to introduce the character in the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.

It seems the follow-up to David Ayer's critically blasted but lucrative supervillain team-up flick would see the members of the Squad tasked with tracking down "a weapon of mass destruction", which turns out to the extremely powerful being known as Black Adam.

We'll have to treat this as a rumor for the time being (even The Wrap doesn't fully get behind it, after all), but it does seem like a smart move on Warner Bros.' part.

Suicide Squad 2 is expected to commence production around this time next year, with The Accountant's Gavin O'Connor attached to direct.
