SUICIDE SQUAD KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE Story Trailer Pits Task Force X Against Superman, The Flash, And More

Rocksteady has released a new trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, and this 3-minute sneak peek offers a much better idea of what to expect when Task Force X battles DC's iconic superheroes.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League was announced during last year's DC FanDome event with a cinematic trailer revealing Task Force X squaring off with an "evil" Superman. It left us with a lot of questions, and while Rocksteady has dropped a few teases since then, this 3-minute story trailer offers a much better idea of what to expect from this wacky, action-packed adventure.

Unfortunately, there's no gameplay footage, but the graphics are pretty incredible, so we're not expecting to be disappointed on that front. It would, however, be good to find out more about how controlling the four villains - Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang - will work.

On the plus side, we do learn a little more about the threat facing Metropolis; it seems as if an alien invasion has led to heroes like Superman and The Flash taking an evil turn, with only Task Force X left to stop them. It feels like there will be more to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League than that, but it's unclear when further details will be revealed following this awesome story trailer.

There's a lot of humour here, though that fits in with the nature of this team. The Batman: Arkham series was extremely dark, so it will be fun finding out how Rocksteady embraced this new tone.

This looks so good. That penguin bit LOL.

Did anyone catch Batman in this trailer? I didn’t see him. If it’s post Arkham Knight I guess he’s dead…

@BlackBeltJones

I was dying at that last bit. Genuinely funny, perfect for the Suicide Squad. The character dynamics look so good.

@regularmovieguy - It leaked, I think a couple are still up. It's just story, like Suicide Squad. Lots of Court of Owl.

AKA Rocksteady's audition to prove to their bosses that a JL game CAN be made but most importantly, a SUPERMAN GAME GODDAMMIT!!!!!

But

I was really hoping for some gameplay after a year of not seeing anything from it. I'm kinda disappointed from what we got, the humor didn't hit for me at all. I really hope they do a gameplay reveal later in the show.

Visually this kinda looks reminiscent of Injustice 2 and has the energy of the James Gunn film. Looks great. Hoping for some gameplay soon.

@Darkknight2149 - probably gonna say the Arkham City Deadshot was an imposter or something like that

Darkknight2149 - 10/16/2021, 2:36 PM
@bkmeijer -
That would require a retcon, since both are confirmed to be Floyd Lawton. I think this is just a classic Rocksteady redesign. Only, unlike Scarecrow, Killer Croc, and others, this one causes a continuity error.

@Darkknight2149 - King Shark's appearance (if we count Assault on Arkham as canon) and Waller's look are changed heavily too, so honestly I wouldn't mind Lawton's change either
Darkknight2149

Waller just lost weight, though. I don't think Rocksteady considers the animated movie canon. Captain Boomerang is alive, after all.

There were also reports a few years ago that Rocksteady wasn't happy with the continuity errors introduced in Arkham Origins and only plans on acknowledging it where it doesn't contradict Asylum and City. An example of this is Harley Quinn's character bio in Knight, which sticks to her Asylum origin and ignores the rewrite from Arkham Origins.

@OmegaDaGrodd -
This is even worse IMO. The X-Men movies have the excuse of time travel and multiple timelines, and the character in X-Men: The Last Stand is only referred to and credited as "Trask" (making it plausible that they could be different characters with the same last name that just happen to be based on the same guy from the comic).

bkmeijer2 - 10/16/2021, 3:02 PM
@Darkknight2149 - didn't even know they changed Harley's origin. Then again, I pay little attention to continuity in the Arkham games (and tbf, don't care for it for some reason either)

So, after a year we still don’t see any gameplay. How annoying. And also, after hearing about Black Adam for what feels like a decade, we get basically the same thing we saw last year, with a minute of footage. It all stinks of low effort, which is the WB way. I mean, Reeves had what, 10% of The Batman filmed last year and still managed to put an excellent trailer together. That’s high effort and todays will probably be great too. That is if WB hasn’t sucked all the effort out of him.

I was hoping for a 2 minute teaser…at least a few glimpses of the other characters.

Looks cool as shit but I'm bummed that there was no gameplay. Maybe something during the game awards?

bkmeijer2 - 10/16/2021, 2:32 PM
It's that it featured locations from the Arkham games, otherwise I wouldn't have guessed it was connected to that. Do like it though they're gonna with something different in terms of tone and scope though

I'm not sure what everyone sees in this, because all I see is a trailer and no gameplay. Does no one understand that the game will play nothing like the trailer? Yes, the trailer looks nice, but it won't play like this at all.
