THE SUICIDE SQUAD Director James Gunn Shares Script Photo And Possible Soundtrack Tease

James Gunn has shared a first look at the uniquely colored script-cover for The Suicide Squad on Twitter. Plus, one of the director's hashtags may hint at one of the tunes we'll hear on the soundtrack...

The Suicide Squad is expected to commence production very soon, and director James Gunn has taken to Twitter to share a first look at the dark orange cover-page of the (presumably) completed script.

Gunn included the hashtag #HeyHoLetsGo, which has led to speculation that the soundtrack will include classic Ramones tune "Blitzkrieg Bop." If that is the case, it might be an indication that the rest of the songs on the soundtrack will lean in a punk direction.

In addition, cast member Mayling Ng shared an Instagram snap of herself posing with fellow Task Force X recruit Peter Capaldi. Neither actor is in costume, of course, but the fact that the photo was taken on what appears to be a studio lot could be further indication that cameras are set to begin rolling in the very near future.

The Suicide Squad also stars Idris Elba, John Cena, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, Storm Reid, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Viola Davis. Plot details remain under wraps, but we may get a better idea of what to expect soon.

The movie is set for release on August 6, 2021.

when SS came out I thought it would be DC's answer to GOTG. Now James Gunn is directing the sequel. Interesting how things turn out...

Them getting Gunn and his soundtrack skills is super ironic considering they tried and failed horribly to replicate Guardians' musical style in the first Suicide Squad.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - The soundtrack in GOTG Vol. 2 was a bit underwhelming though....they should consult Tarantino honestly for song ideas.

@soberchimera - It's a bit underrated IMO. That soundtrack introduced me to a couple songs from that era I probably never would've found on my own and still listen to currently. But I agree it didn't hit as hard as Vol. 1. Much lesser known tracks in Vol. 2 and definitely some misses.

@soberchimera - Also, I wouldn't mind them not really focusing on adding pop songs into this one, especially since the first movie felt like a terribly edited music comilation at times. There are like 7 songs in the first half hour of that movie. It's barely watchable.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Good lord, there were enough pop songs in the first one, they should really insert some Vietnam-era music like "Fortunate Son" or "War" since this is supposed to be an espionage team.

@soberchimera - We did get Sympathy for the Devil to open the movie though. For some reason..
