As the New 52 from DC is almost upon us, it might be good to take a look at the various incarnations of the Superman costume in comics. From the Golden Age through today, Superman's costume has remained essentially the same with minor changes. Sometimes it was just the shield that changed, or his hair. However, there have been moments when Superman sported an entirely different costume. Which ones are your favorites?

Hmm, don't think either of the creators ever thought their costume might have that reaction.

I like the Superman above me the armor look makes more sense than cloth because he needs something thats bullet proof like armor, flame retardant, and the new design id pretty good minus the S Shield on his shoulders but other wise he has a more modern day take on the character and its been long over do..

LMFAO SUPERMAN RED AND BLUE HAHahahAHhAHAh That Especially failed

@Teabag...well put....you deserve something for your common sense.

@hillbillyshadow.....this is for you since you have apparently forgotten why Superman needs no armor....since its his skin that is bullet proof and flame resistant..or RETARDant.

In Lex Luthor: Man of Steel, Lee Bermejo's Superman design is pretty great, though the colors are a little muted.

@WallyWestNAM....That's lumberjack Superman. Don't get used to that look, it's probably going to be gone very soon, at least I hope so.

The best Superman has ever looked in 70 years is the way he looks in the new 52 re-launch with his Kryptonian ceremonial armor.

Saying that someone who takes punches from Darksied doesn’t need armor sounds a bit foolish to me.

It’s Kryptonian tech, it’s Thousands of years more advanced than earth tech. Superman often takes blows from opponents powerful enough to injure or kill him. Anything that will offer some level of protection would be most welcome.
