Jonathan Nolan And David Goyer In The Running To Direct The Man of Steel!

Jonathan Nolan And David Goyer In The Running To Direct The Man of Steel!

Apparently, Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer are still the front-runners to lead the franchise into the limelight.

The following came from a reliable source from The Playlist and is concerning the open spot for Directing the 2012 Superman Reboot, The Man of Steel.

- Despite our massive skepticism, Jonathan Nolan is apparently the frontrunner to direct "Superman." At least right now he is.

- Another name in the mix is "The Dark Knight" co-writer David S. Goyer, and yes, as a director, but he's potentially busy with another gig/deal for another superhero film (the story and script on "The Man Of Steel" is his).

- Waner Bros. want a writer/director for this "Superman" reboot as it would be cheaper than hiring writers and a director.

- Apparently the film was offered to the Wachowskis, but they balked.

- Some MAJOR Announcements are expected at Comic Con

Now I don't know what to make of this. I have already said in an editorial that David Goyer would want to direct this because it is his story and is his vision. An news story that confirmed Jonathan Nolan as directing said that Goyer was interested, but Nolan would direct. Now we have this story, so make of it what you will.

David Goyer vs Jonathan Nolan. You Decide.

Great find man! I'd love to see what Jonathan Nolan could do with the character! David Goyer, however, is a little too hit-and-miss for my tastes so I'll have to pass on him though!

A guy that has directed one not-so-much-loved movie and a guy that's never directed a damn thing. Hmmm...

Definitely not Goyer - excellent writer, lousy director.

@ superdog - I agree with you that Jonah Nolan should get the gig, but why would his brother be telling him what to do?? If that was the case, Chris would just do the film himself? He just wants to help get the project off the ground, he's got no interest in directing it or "telling" other people how to direct it. Like I say, he'd just do it himself. No disrepect towards you though.

@ Malone - If you're referring to Blade Trinity, don't forget he directed The Unborn too, and that wasn't nothing to write home about.

If Jonathan Nolan directs, Christopher Nolan will have a lot more creative input probably.

Anyone who gives us a Superman that fits the bill. 6'3" minimum, large imposing physical stature and build. Someone who doesn't compromise acting or the physical build and look of Supes. No casting wimpy, sissy boy looking guys for Superman! Then I will be happy.

i don't give shit who directs it,as long as i see superman kicking the ass of any of the following doomsday, brainac, zod, bizzaro, darkseid, mongul any of them would be just fine.

Glad everybody has basically the right idea about Goyer. Terrible director, very good writer. He comes up with a million good ideas, he just needs a visionary director to sort them out and put the whole thing together.

Im with you deadpool72, whats the reason for using Lex as the villain all the time? Is it just easier to work him in? Give him some lasers and shit and BAM you've got a villain?

You cant go cheap and easy with superman, it all just makes him weak, or stupid. It makes no sense for him to be bested over and over again by a mere mortal.

Bring on Doomsday or Darkseid and bring them on BIG!

i never watched true blood but i saw the guy in the GL issue of EW and immediately thought the same thing! he's definitely got the tone and if he had just a little more actual bulk i'd say perfect.

Nolan, 100% There isn't a doubt in my mind him and his brother, Cristopher Nolan, have a plan and a direction for this charactor. I have yet to see superman in a live action movie that has been justified. I think the first one was corny as all [frick], the second one was decent and the one with richard pryor, I mean come on people. Hoollywood has been ruining movies from day one with trying to shake things up when the best stories told are simply complex if that makes sense.

Mass- Hmmmmm... it has been a while. I don't remember either. All i remember is him needing tweeks for both Batman movies. Ya never know, he could have been great solo before the trinity incident. It might have spoiled him ;P

I think is established that Goyer can't direct (The unborn, The invisible, Blade trinity) so between those two I'll go with Nolan, but I'd rather someone else, Mctiegue who was mentioned before would be a nice choice in my opinion.

J.Nolan to direct The Man Of Steel!

Please don't let David S. Goyer direct. I guess if I have to choose they should go with Johnathen Nolan.

But I would rather they get a better, more experinced director for this beloved hero. Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, Magnolia) is shooting Master this august and should finish in December, just in time to start pre production on Superman. He is one of the greatest directors of all time and would do a great superhero film. and Superman does deserve one of the best director, and Anderson is just as good, if not better then Nolan.
