'Supernatural' and 'Smallville delay was unnecessary.

Both shows were delayed a week so the CW could compensate for lost ratings with 'Vampire Diaries' and 'Nikita' on Thursday night, only problem, they didn't lose ratings.

Thursday afternoon the CW announced to us that they would be delaying the mid-season premieres for 'Supernatural' and 'Smallville' until next Friday night because they were worried about their Thursday line up of 'Vampire Diaries' and 'Nikita' having to compete with American Idol, so on Friday night we got re-runs of those two shows instead, just so the CW could protect it's ratings with those two terrible shows, and as it turns out, they didn't need too.

On Thursday night, 'Vampire Diaries' and 'Nikita' showed no significant drop in ratings even with competing against 'America Idol'.

So they delayed two actual good programs, to keep their ratings up with two terrible shows, and in the end didn't have too, see if that makes any sense to any of you.

Feel free to rant, comment, complain, and hate, in the usual spot below.

They didn't delay them so those shows could compensate against Idol, it was because those shows were pre-empted in several major markets by local events.

I WAS PISSED! I was so looking forward to both shows and I got two craptastic shows instead! CW should be slapped with baby powder for this!

If I wanted to watch Vampire Diaries, I'd rent the eclipse movies...They advertised it 5 weeks and changed it one day ahead-like dorks.

One day they'll grow up and be a real-live network.
