Will Smallville crash & burn, or will the Red & Blue Blur rise up and save us?

Smallville has had some great seasons. . . and some not so great ones.

After eight 1/2 seasons, countless characters from the Superman universe, hashed and re-hashed plot-lines; Smallville might be going for a tenth season (so says producer Kelly Sounders). The superhero series manages to stay on air while shows like Southland and Trauma can't make it past the first season.

Smallvile has experienced a drop in ratings since moving to Friday nights on the CW. Sounders says it hasn't been a bad drop. "Roulette's" episode attracted 2.5 million viewers, a season high for the series. It's probably because WWE Smackdown is on at the same time as Smallville and alot of wrestling fans also watch Smallville. All they have to do is Tivo one while watching the other, or jsut catch it online later that same night.

Sounders said the Smallville staff is penning a season finale (for Season 9), not a series finale. Does it have Clark putting on his red and blues? Will Cloe end up dead like in Lois's dreams? Will Doomsday be making a comeback? Will Lex be back in a battle suit with the Legion of Doom?

Kelly isn't saying much but I'm sure it will be good season finale.
