Zack Snyder & The MAN OF STEEL Cast On The Possibility Of Seeing Doomsday In A Sequel

In Total Film's latest video interview with the director and cast of Man Of Steel, Snyder, Cavill and co. are asked about Superman's most deadly foe, Doomsday. Could we see him in the sequel? It seems anything is possible..

When Zack Snyder is asked when he thinks would be the right time to "unleash Doomsday", the director suggests that it's always a possibility now that Man Of Steel has opened the doors of the DC cinematic universe. Amy Adams thinks Doomsday would be cool (suggesting that Lex Luthor could introduce the character), but would prefer Bizarro. Michael Shannon admits that although he's heard of the "Death Of Superman", he could never get into the comic books, and Henry Cavill simply hopes it happens and thinks it'd be awesome.

I'm sure if Man Of Steel does kick off a franchise, it will only be a matter of time before Doomsday makes an appearance, but I'm not sure it would (or should) be in the second movie. What do you guys think?

Doomsday would be awesome but not in the sequel.

See, even Henry Cavill wants to die lol had to say it. But, no seriously, that would be badass to see Henry Cavill's Superman in the third installment or something go one on one with Doomsday. If you thought the fights in Man of Steel were great (as I do) or epic, then imagine him against Doomsday.... [frick] yeah!!

I hope so! Would love to see the four incarnations come to life too! I've been waiting for that since I was ten! Wasn't a fan of MOS but the franchise has potential!

It is. #10 I think.
As for Doomsday being in the movies, I think it is way too soon for that.

Doomsday should be in MOS 3. Darkseid should be in the Justice League film.

Darkseid>>>Thanos, but Thanos>>>Doomsday. So I would save the bigger threat for the team up film, and maybe do a film version of Death of Superman in MOS 3.

@knocturnalzen10 It is, quite an early one, it’s got vague, but blatant, copies of Spider-man, Batman... loads of Marvel and DC characters. I think I even have that issue somewhere....

Anyways, I think it would be cool to have a Doomsday cameo at the end of MOS:2 that leads to the JLA movie (to do the whole Death of Superman properly!) and for Superman to die at the end which in turn leads to MOS:3 – Zombie Superman/Superman Lives or whatever.

I mean of those not familiar with the comics, who would think Superman, of all people, would get killed off at the end of the JLA movie?

I think this way, it would be a good way to introduce a lot of DC characters outside of the core JLA team. The Doomsday crossover went across quite a few titles and incorporated a lot of characters (I quite liked Blue Beetle getting his head smashed in, in a car door lol!), the JLA movie could do the same and do a few spin offs of characters introduced in there.

Just a thought!

Lex next. It would be cool if they had Lex try to test Superman's abilities, like in the first season of Lois and Clark. Save Doomsday for later.

Too soon!!!

There would be no emotion from the people of Metropolis or the World if he died.....cus he just been introduced.

Have Doomsday Break out of the ground at the end of the 2nd movie but only tease and show shadows etc.

Leave for the 3rd movie!

Doomsday would actually be a good villain for Justice League. He's a threat that Superman can't handle alone, so he could go around, round up the team, defeat but die to Doomsday, then have the after-credits scene show Superman "waking up" from Death, setting up a 2-part Return of Superman movie. BAM - pay me now DC.

Darksied and Doomsday for JL movie...would be epic!

Man of steel 2 is going to be awesome, also I recommend completly avoiding Justice League since I doubt the Justice League will ever work. Rather stick to Man Of Steel.

@theSHOCKER They won't keep him for JL...he's pretty much brainless and this kind of character doesn't really work in the big team up movie as main villain...They will keep Darkseid for JL movie...or white martians. I guess Doomsday could be something unleashed by Lex in the sequel or something like that. Part of the "way to stop superman" research.

Doomsday is fairly one-dimensional,a punch em til he falls villain.

Brainiac or Lex much more interesting & using Bizzaro and/or Parasite as secondary baddie would be cool.

Personally, I want to see Doomsday as soon as possible...that was my favorite SM story...but hey, I really enjoyed MOS, so I trust Synder now, and I think if he continues to work on DC properties, he's only going to get better at it. Just like I said in my review, Synder had to do something Nolan didnt...take a guy that basically a god and make him relatable. The only thing Nolan had to do was take an uber rich kid and give him him some cool gadgets with great hand to hand combat training...Synder had a much more difficult task, and he pulled it off...bravo, bring on DD

I reckon Metallo and Lex for the sequel. Maybe they will take a run at Brainiac.

If they do try Brainiac, the 2nd film is the time to do it, while Krypton is still fresh in our memories. Otherwise it could end up looking a bit like how Spiderman 3 tried to tie Sandman to uncle Ben's murder. *shivers*

Please don't do that. We just saw a Superman movie on par with a full on disaster film. Adding Doomsday just gives us the same movie. Don't Michael Bay it up! Give us Lex and in turn a different MOS. One that isn't a copy of the first because Lex would pose a different threat.

I'm not going to comment on the whole Avengers vs Man of Steel debate. But, I say after Justice League or Justice League 2, put Doomsday in for the third Superman movie. What's a better way to start off the next, I'm just gonna call it "Phase" of movies than with Superman's death? It would really set tone for the rest of the DC movies.

Man of steel 2 villians- Lex "mother[frick]ing" Luthor and Brainiac(as the main villian)

Man of Steel 3 villians- Luthor(as the main villian), Doomsday(created by Luthor kill Superman and that would be it, the Nam-EK of the movie), Bizarro(created by Luthor to replace Superman) and Metallo and Parasite as Luthor's superpowered enforcers.

Darkseid and his New God contingent should be Justice League villians only.

you kill superman in mos2 and bring him back in mo3, dont you people know anything about trilogies?

Bizarro all the way, I think you'd get a more interesting story out of it. Doomsday would be bland, boring, and also you'd know what to expect. There would be no surprises, and you'd end up with overlong fight scenes (again) only this time, with even less time for character development than the first film. Doomsday would be an absolute recipe for disaster and would condemn Superman back into development hell.
Goyer put a nemesis in the third Blade film (Dracula) and the third Batman film (Bane) and neither were very interesting characters, you really think Doomsday would be any different??

I don't want them to do the "Death of Superman" until after a Justice League movie. Also, the ONLY way I think that this would work is if they go and make a script based off the Roger Stern novel "The Death and Life of Superman." I don't mean loosely based on it either. I mean as close to following the book as possible. They should space it out over two movies and introduce the Doomsday creature as he was in the novel. Don't follow the DC animated movie "Superman: Doomsday" because there was so much wrong with it. This is one of those story-lines that I would adamantly tear apart. I'm no DC fanboy, however, this is my favorite story-line of any character across any of the companies (DC, Marvel, Dark Horse). I read this novel at least ten times throughout junior high and high school. It is still my favorite novel of all time. Do Superman justice and wait until you have a Justice league movie out and introduced all of those characters. Wait until a fourth and fifth movie to do this story-line. Maybe do an after credits scene a la "The Avengers" with Doomsday punching through his confinements or through the Superman logo at the end. I would COMPLETELY blow this site up if they mess this story up...

...rant over
