Luke Evans Reaffirms That He Probably Will Not Star In THE CROW

At one time, Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, Furious 6) was gung ho about starring in the remake of The Crow, however, Evans continues to state he's busy for the next 12 months.

Luke Evans' Dracula Untold may have been derided by film critics but it earned $215.5 M USD at the global box office off an estimated production budget of $70 M USD.  Hollywood typically sours on actors if they become box office poison and Evans definitely doesn't fit that definition, starring in Furious 6 and The Hobbit franchise in just the last two years.  Still, it appears that Relativity and Evans are prepared to part ways on the project as Evans has stated that he's busy filming other projects for the next year and filming on The Crow reboot projected to begin this Spring.  In fact, it sounds like Relativity is not in contact with Evans at all anymore, concerning the cult -classic Caliber Comics adaptation.  "Right now I’m not sure where it is, I don’t know what’s happening with it.  I think it’s a question probably to ask [distributor] Relativity…they’re the ones who are really holding the strings to this story and this character. But yeah, I don’t think it’s gonna be something I’m gonna be doing for a while. I’ve got about four or five different projects which I’m lining up for this year, which will take up the majority of my 12 months. So not in the near future, unfortunately."

Evans also acknowledges that with F. Javier Gutiérrez  no longer set to direct, the initial plans for the reboot to adhere closer to the source material than the 1994 film that starred Brandon Lee. "It’ll be a different concept, a different director, a different script, and who knows where it will go? I mean, when I was in conversations with everybody it was about being as honorable to the book and loyal to the book as possible. And that meant it would be a very different film to the one that was made with Brandon Lee. Which was a good thing in a way. I mean, it wasn’t that we were trying to replicate something. It was, we were gonna go back to the book and be as completely truthful as possible. But who knows where it’ll go? And who knows whether I’ll be playing it or somebody else.”

Why don't you just set Avengers to the original trailer of The Crow and call it a day.

People on a comic book page complaining about rebooting a 20 year old comic franchise because they have affection for the first film made. Sigh... It's 20 years later! I'm a huge The Crow fan, and I know the first film was a loose adoption of the comic property, and that a more faithful adoption would be a different film.

Yeah, what an idiot, assuming the professional prop and stunt guys knew what they were doing and letting them accidentally kill him. You're the dumbass.

I think Brandon Lee's death is one of the biggest tragedies in Hollywood. He was a rising star. Smart, charismatic, talented, and good looking like his father. This film would have been his breakthrough and he would have carried on his father's legacy. That would have meant so much to many people because Bruce also died very young and way before his time. Shame.

The Crow should never have attempted to being remade in the first place. Whatever.

Hate that this movie is having trouble. Maybe they should postpone it until Evans is free.

@espoirgars

Awwwwwwwww.............did mommy leave her computer logged on? She's going to be mad that you're up past your bedtime. Not mad enough to give you any attention of course. That's why you're here, trying so desperately to get noticed. Now that you've had your attention, go back to your piss-stained jammies and leave the talking to the adults.

@espoirgars, I really enjoy your stupidity. It's not everyday someone is that much of a confused, ill-learned waste of space. Please tell me where your next trolling session will be. So that myself along with the rest of the CBM community that feel sorry for the Lee's family loses, can laugh at your ignorance.

@SiGurDJarLsoN, have not heard of Hiddleston being cast, but would be a great choice in my eyes
