Tom Hiddleston Apparently Won't Be THE CROW; Alexander Skarsgard Up For The Role?

Deadline reckon that recent reports of The Avengers' Tom Hiddleston being in talks for the lead role in The Crow remake may have been premature, but that True Blood actor Skarsgard might be a shoe in "if he wants it"..

Recently The Wrap reported that Loki himself Tom Hiddleston was in talks to star as Eric Draven in Relativity Media’s reboot of The Crow, but now Deadline are refuting that, claiming a "conversation" was blown out of proportion and made out to be more than it was. Deadline are a site that go out of their way to take the odd shot at their competitors (not that said competitors don't do the same) though so it's sometimes hard to tell where the truth really lies with these things -- but one thing is for sure, they believe there IS a man that might be applying the black and white face-paint for Relativity, if he fancies the role that is.

"The guy to keep an eye on here is True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard, who is getting numerous offers since his plans to star for David Yates in Tarzan died on the vine when Warner Bros halted the project over budget. No formal offer yet, but it sounds to me like it’s Skarsgard’s role if he wants it, in the F. Javier Gutierrez-directed film series relaunch."

Let the Skarsgard as Draven manips commence! Out of these two, who would you rather see land the role?

The Crow does not need a reboot! It was great the first time with Brandon Lee!

No one can replace Brandon Lee, still, if the Crow remake did happen, I wouldn't be mad.

The Crow was probably one of the coolest movies i've ever watched. great style, great action, and just badass all together. Don't you dare reboot it Hollywood! there is a reason it has been in development Hell. The spirit of Brandon Lee says, "NO!"

Eh, could be this is where all of Hollywood's tall actors crawl out of the woodwork, lol. If years of camera tricks and carefully chosen supporting casts can make Tom Cruise look like an action hero, then Skarsgard can look like the Crow.

Not really into another Crow at all, mind. It was *the* movie for one specific moment in the 90s. I don't have high hopes for a reboot.

I don't want them remaking The Crow. If they want to do a new Crow movie with a new character, then that would be cool.

No other actor will be able to top Brandon Lee's performance as Eric Draven.

they can go for the reboot formula, IF they gonna make it more in a vein of O'Barrs comics. Adding Skull Cowboy character would be a good way to go, i guess. Anyway, i wonder what is the point of doing Eric Draven's story again. There are so many crows left.

Personally, i don't believe that Skarsgard will pick up that role.
After Straw Dogs remake he should be little wiser by now.
If the script is just "good", and nothing more - skip it then.

P.S. Too damn tall

"don't "remake" the first movie, fools

just call it crow 5 or whatever. don't be silly"

Or... you know, do a new adaptation of the comic, as Alex Proyas' movie wasn't exactly a page for page faithful adaptation. Another Crow movie based on O'Barr's comic need be no more a remake of the Proyas movie than one Dracula movie being a remake of a previous one.

And calling "The Crow 5" or "The Crow: ... whatever") is the surest path to box office failure given the law of diminishing returns observed by each sequel and the reputation each one earned through dragging the Crow name through the mud.

He's the right size as far as the comic version of Eric goes, but I can't see him doing the tone the right way. It would seem a little forced I think.

I haven't really seen anything he's acted in so I can't say whether he'd be good for the part or not. I personally really would've liked to see Tom Hiddleston get the role. He has an Eric Draven-ish look to me, and I think he'd be able to pull off the tone of the character very well.

I'd be interested to see what they do with this.
It's a cult film. It's due for a revamp.

This doesn't change my opinion of the original one bit. Just because I enjoy that film doesn't mean we shouldn't give this a fair shot.
