EXCLUSIVE: Keystone City Video For THE FLASH Video Game (Cancelled)

Greg Miller, who was the Lead Designer on The Flash video game (cancelled) that was being developed by BottleRocket Entertainment, has sent us an exclusive video that gives us a tour of Keystone City. Come check it out!

"The art team put together a one square block sample of what they were thinking Keystone City would look like. Whereas Central City is full of huge glass and steel skyscrapers like a city with one foot in the future, Keystone City still has one foot in the past and is comprised mainly of smaller buildings constructed from brick and mortar. There isn’t a whole lot to see in this video but it gives a little tease of how we though life in Keystone might be." - Greg Miller

Greg Miller has since moved on to building apps.  His latest, Monster Rift, is featured below.  It’s free to play so do him a favor and check it out

Monster Rift HD
By Veritas Design Group

Description: Help Dood travel through dozens of cavernous Rifts as he collects eggs, avoids traps, smashes through obstacles, and defeats a horde of monsters. Once you’ve escaped a Rift, take your eggs to the Hatchery and see what kind of surprise is in each one. Is it a Rift Baby that will help you unlock the next level? A Companion creature that will enhance your abilities? Or perhaps some Gems that you can use to purchase other helpful items from the Monster Market?

Download the game for FREE at iTunes.

Looks very Flash-like to me, they probably could've been able to do better though. But we don't know the budget they had for this, so there is that.

All right, how about this....release the unfinished game on xbox live arcade. Seriously, forget story and levels and all that plot-oriented crap. I would honestly just be satisfied to run around as the flash all day every day.

I never, ever want to play a game as The Flash.

It's impossible.

No matter how fast you go, it's still going to be scaled down to the point of not being fun.

But if somehow the devs DO enable you to go at Flash's actual speed...
it still wouldn't be fun, because you wouldn't be able to see what the hell is going on.

Looks like they got the speed down. The graphics look last gen, and were so no biggie.

I hated the look of the skateboardiness of the last video though.

I also wonder what would happen if, for example, you ran into a car. Do you go over the top? Smash into it? Slow motion spin move out of the way?

They could have gone closer to the flash's actual speed by having almost a GPS if you go fast enough, the flash takes control of the turning, getting you to a destination that you determined beforehand so there's no need for lightning reflexes to go at his top speed. Or throw in his vibrating through walls ability if you go fast enough so you end up running through the block instead of around it. They could even throw in a precognitive style ability to see turns and objects coming up ahead so you know where to turn/dodge/vibrate through/jump. And then there's switching to bullet time for fight sequences or when needing to do something finesse.

I wish this game wasn't cancelled. I don't care for the menu design, but it looks like it would've been a fun game.

Lego superheroes has the best flash for video games, I suppose.

I do games design at university so I think I'm a fitting critic for this, this was obviously aimed for kids, or if it wasn't it didnt know who to aim it at, to many clear signs of cut and pasting with roads and building, the running animation is awful, why is the flash taller and bigger than other people, at least with the superman returns game it knew who its target audience was, I could make a better flash character and animation myself on my computer lol

@ Corey

How dare you say Batman isn't a superhero.

You realize that powers aren't what makes a character a superhero, right?

My question is: What's it gonna take for people to bring this game back and FINISH IT? It would be awesome!
