Yesterday, The Flash star Sasha Calle shared a photo of her new hairstyle, and fans immediately started questioning what that could mean for her role as Supergirl in the DC Comics adaptation.
We're bound to get an official first look at the character before the movie is released on November 4, 2022, but Calle has now returned to Twitter to share a very cool piece of fan-art. As you can see, it imagines the Girl of Steel with that shorter hairstyle, and it's definitely a look that works well.
Filming is currently underway on The Flash in the UK, so Calle's new look is almost certainly for the DC Comics adaptation. There is precedent in the source material for Supergirl to rock a shorter hairstyle, though this is definitely reminiscent of the Cir-El version of the iconic character.
She wore a black costume and blue cape, and was originally introduced as the alleged daughter of Superman. Later, it was revealed that Cir-El was a human girl genetically altered by the villain Brainiac to appear Kryptonian. Just because The Flash's Supergirl has the same hairstyle, it doesn't mean any of that backstory will be used in the movie, and we're expecting to see Calle play Kara Zor-El.
