According to bluray.com, Joe Johnston's (Captain America: The First Avenger) The Rocketeer: 20th Anniversary Edition will finally be arriving on blu-ray before the year ends. The street date that had popped up on amazon.com was December 13th, which has been confirmed by the house of mouse. According to Disney's official announcement the Blu-ray will present The Rocketeer in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. The special features are still unknown at this time. The starting price of the blu-ray is $26.50, which is not bad. I gotta say that I'm actually excited for this blu-ray.

The film stars Billy Campbell as a stunt pilot and a mechanic in 1930's California who comes across stolen jet-pack designed by Howard Hughes. Based on the retro comic book by Dave Stevens, the superhero flick also stars Jennifer Connelly, Timothy Dalton and Alan Arkin.

@ Ghostfire Never saw Career Opportunities until years later, but she was indeed incredibly hot in that. Just one of those movies you watch for the eye candy. Not so much the story. :D

<------- LOVE this film. LOVE this character. LOVE the late Dave Stephen's artwork, humor. Love his Betty Page art too. But will this Bluray be Region-locked. I'm in the UK and really NEED to see this in Bluray standard.

It's funny how the younger members here perceive this movie. It must look ridiculous to a 12-year old lol.

It'll always be a classic to me.

A remake of The Shadow needs to happen.

Same goes for The Phantom. Hell, I'd even like Billy Zane to come back.

I don't know why there's so many people that are against this movie. I think it's one of the most awesome takes on superhero there's been. Now if we can just get a sequel.
