Kenneth Branagh's Thor is shooting right know, but we didn't have any big news lately. Here you can read what Deborah Ambrosino, who is a costume craftsperson for Thor, has to say about the costumes.

This is from costumedesignersguild.com:

"At the moment, Ambrosino is working on "Thor," which she describes as "strangely enough, very theatrical. There is a lot of fantasy in the different worlds that Thor lives in. The characters that populate that world are fantastical but not superheroes, which is great… there is a heightened realism." For this project, Ambrosino is employing her metalsmithing knowledge to create armor and jewelry, in addition to some millinery and leatherwork."

Thor is set to hit theatres on May 6,2011.

@Wolverine09 Cool. I have an Avengers logo coming up soon. I'm trying to find the right color.

But can't wait til we get a Thor pic. with what this lady, Deborah is saying, this being sort of a fantasy, we can actually get some mythical characters that probably wouldn't work in the Iron Man franchise.

@LEEE: I belive this film will be something else.I mean the director, the cast...I have no worries for this one.

It would have been even better if they had everything ready to release the film on the original date, this year, right along with Iron Man 2.

The Thor & Captain America films, just seem to different from each other. I mean, Norse Mythology % WW2 era. It would have been better to have Thor with Iron man the same year, and Captain America and The Avengers the same year.

Brilliant find Wolverine09! :)

Amen LEE! I like The Ultimates but thank [frick] they seem to be sticking to the 616 side of things! Say, I've only seen the odd one or two comments from you about it so I have to ask - what do you really think about Evans playing Cap? :P

Great find.

MF: I think too many people are worried about Thor IM and Cap meshing because of their different backgrounds. They work so well in the comics because they are so different.

The CBM future is bright for only 2 films and that is the definite epic winner Thor and the sure to be successful Green Lantern!

The costumes sound like there faithful to the Thor comic and mythology. Ken Bran is the man!

IRON MAN: Kicked Ass

INCREDIBLE HULK: Kicked Ass

IRON MAN 2: WILL KICK MORE ASS

THOR: WILL KICKETH OF MUCH ASS

CAPTAIN AMERICA: will suck ass because marvel let some
director [frick] it up with a mediocre casting decision

AVENGERS: GETS ITS ASS KICKED WAAAAY BACK UNTIL MARVEL HAS TIME TO DO A REBOOT OF CAPTAIN AMERICA

CAPTAIN AMERICA the 1st AVENGER reboot directed by Louis Leterrier staring GARRET HEDLUND goes down in history as the most kick ass CBM of all time surpassing even the dark knight

many compare the new movie to saving private ryan but this time with a cape on. and praise the director for his ability to capture the grittiness of war while balancing and seamlessly blending in the comic book roots of the story and character.... however because of the poor reviews of the 2011 captain america fiasco (which nearly ended marvel studios) starring chris evans directed by joe johnston many movie goers were hessitant to see this new adaption leading to lackluster ticket sales in the first week even with the spectacular reviews....

AND THEN I WOKE UP

I am no opposed to the Ultimate Thor costume, but he should definitely start off in his traditional costume first, and then maybe upgrade.
LuckyKyd
LuckyKyd - 3/24/2010, 1:42 AM
Youre okay there Ben, sounds like you have had a bad dream or something?...

@Lyrekz: I always thought they could have a scene in Avengers, where Nick Fury get Dr. Pym to design the Ultimate suit to Thor. But when Thor sees it he promptly destroy it with his hammer. That would be a cool nod to the fans IMO...

I'm getting a hard on just READING about costume concepts... is that normal???

Tea- HELL TO THE YEAYAAAAHHHH!!!!!!

Ben Rielly- Your speculations are unfounded. How does the fact that Johnston did a brilliant WW2 era film that could be concidered "with a cape" not "do it" for you, yet an urban CGI film about a green monster does??? And what has Hedlund done in the past that could eclipse Evans' skills? Cause aside from Death Sentence (which he showed to have NOTHING that Cap requires on top of looking like a pissed off teenie gang leader with pubes on his face) he hasn't done ANYTHING to show he's a "better" actor than Evans. They are both very decent but to say that Evans would make Cap bomb while Hedlund would exceed TDK's level, in the same role, is flat out insane.

We have to think that THOR movie and development for Avengers movie will have (i believe) 2 stages: 1 in Asgard and the other one in Earth.

Therefore i think they will have 2 different costumes for Thor, the first one inspired in LOTR more classic look and the second one more similar to Ultimate Thor.

In fact i believe the best way to introduce THOR to bigger audiences is the Ultimate way.

Green lantern was shooting for 5hrs before we got set footage. We've seen Hal Jordan, John Stewart (Allegedly)and the Green lantern logo. Thor's been shooting for 7 months and we got nothing. Whut the hell man!

This is how I see Thor movie
I think it will be divided in 2 different realities ant times. 1 will be set in Asgard and the other one will be set in Earth.
Movie edition will imitate LOST style, mixing realities in flashbacks way, in order to confuse audience without knowing which one is the “real reality”.
In Asgard we will know CLASSIC THOR, developing his story with a LOTR wind of look. We will also know the fantastic and mythological creatures in this magic world in which Thor is a mighty warrior. We will know his relationship with his father Odin and his brother Loki.
In Earth we will know the life of Dr. Donald Blake, who is a “normal” guy, working in his personal medical office together with his personal assistant Nurse Jane Foster, who has always been his secret love interest.
As the movie develops we will know Loki’s plan to defeat Thor, who will have to fight him and the constant visions and nightmares he has about a strange world he doesn’t understand.
By the other way, Dr. Donald Blake has always been an intelligent man, an excellent student and an awarded doctor, but his life has been complicated because his continuous psychological problems and mental breakdowns, doctors says he is schizophrenic.
In Asgard, Loki’s plan finally success and Thor is exiled by Odin in the middle of the biggest battle ever seen since LOTR movie, in which Thor has completely lose control, producing a mega disaster, killing hundreds of Asgardians, because of Loki mental tricks, mixed with Thor visions of Earth.
In Earth, Dr. Donald Blake mental problems never have been so deep. His hallucinations impede him to work normally, medications do not help anymore and even he is convinced he is completely crazy. Finally, he is locked into a mental clinic in which he start believing the hallucinations are real and that he has a purpose to save Earth in some way. Then he realizes he is the reincarnation of God of Thunder, but of course, nobody believes him. This is the moment when ULTIMATE THOR is born.
In this way, movie ends with both characters (Thor and Blake) defeated and broken. Maybe here is a good idea to have a post-credit scene in which Blake discovers Mjölnir and finally recover his powers in Earth.
In Avengers movie then, we will have Ultimate Thor as a crazy European guy who is the leader of an Environmental Sect, followed by hundreds of hippies around Europe recluted by S.H.I.E.L.D. to be a part of the team.
This fit with my idea of having an after-credits Thor cameo in IM2, in which we see S.H.I.E.L.D. interest in have him on the team.

What do you think?

You guys know that seen in IH where after Blonsky got the super soldier treatment he fought Hulk and was running faster, dodging, jumping around and flipping. I really want to see alot of that kinda stunt work in Captain America but with alot of emphasis on the shield. This could deffinently draw attention away from the hard to believe aspect of Chris Evans in command leading Thor or the Hulk.

a healthy mix of judo throws, grecko style wrestling and american boxing would deffinetly personofy a realistic transition from comic to film
