Kevin Feige Promises That The Disney+ TV Shows Will Be Set Firmly In The Marvel Cinematic Universe
Aside from the odd sporadic reference, you wouldn't know that the likes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Cloak & Dagger are set in the MCU. However, things will be different with the shows on Disney+...
Marvel Studios is developing a number of TV shows for Disney+, including Loki, Scarlet Witch & The Vision, and Bucky & The Falcon.
Up until now, Marvel's TV shows have been set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe without having any sort of impact on what's going on in the movies and, as the years have passed, they've become further removed (then recently cancelled Daredevil was seemingly still set around the same time as The Avengers as that's the only movie it ever referenced).
However, during a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige made it clear that the shows coming to Disney+ will all be firmly set in the same world as the movies.
"These will be Marvel Studios productions," he confirmed in a recent interview to promote Captain Marvel. "They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU." In other words, these will be essential viewing, as what happens to the characters on the small screen will be felt on the big one as well.
This news is bound to come as a relief to many fans and it will be interesting to see how these stories all connect with what's happening elsewhere, especially as we don't know how much Disney+ will cost or when its content will debut internationally.
