Natalie Portman On Thor And The Avengers!

The actress talks about being hired for the role of Jane Foster, working with Kenneth Branagh on blue screen, whether she'll appear in Thor 2 and The Avengers as well as a lot more...

In the latest issue of Total Film Magazine, the actress was interviewed about her experiences during the filming of Thor and below are some of the highlights which I've just typed up from some scans I found online. The magazine's cover boasts a fair few other comic book movie related exclusives and I'll try and pick up a copy tomorrow to see if there's any other decent info in there to share with you guys!

On Her Reaction To Being Offered The Role:

"It was sort of actually not something I was dying to do. Not Thor in particular, but a big movie. When I heard Ken was doing it, I said, 'Wow that is a daring and interesting idea.' Then I met Ken and he was someone I was extremely interested to get to spend three months with. It was probably the first, or one of the first times, that my expectations were actually exceeded."

On Working With Blue Screen During Filming:

"Getting to experience that with Ken's guidance, - who's the master of attacking text and character from every angle - was a new way to approach blue screen acting. It was an exciting challenge to go at again."

On The Tone Of Thor And Her Character:

"I think comics have such classic epic themes. Like Thor, I think you could make a small independent film with the same themes and it would be really interesting. It's a total thrill. Jane is a well loved character, but also one who is really open to finding new colours."

On The Avengers and Thor 2:

"I'm not in The Avengers, but I am in the future Thor films if and when they happen."

Thor will be released in cinemas worldwide on May 6th, 2011!

"blue screen acting. It was an exciting challenge to go at again." wow i just realized I'd completely forgotten she'd played Padme in Star Wars. I know it should be an embarrassment for me to forget such a thing.. but honestly it just makes me admire her versatility onscreen and how she's really grown as an actress. Brilliant! Bring on THOR!

RockNRollCC: Ah, well spotted - that's the old release date I think! I'll change it to the 6th now.

EXACTLY what Danny rand just said. ""Lucas barely deserves the title director. He managed to turn every actor in his films- actors who have excelled in other works, like the great Liam Neeson, Ewan McGrecor, Natalie Portman and even Hayden Christianson- and edit/coach them into becoming cardboard cutouts. ""

@Deadpool72, I dont think that Thor will be a better film than Green Lantern. I think green Lantern has a far superior director for an action/adventure movie (Ken is a great director but he is more Shakespearean) Also Mark Strong as Sinestro is perfect casting, you can't get much better than that. I'm at a tosss up about Cap, Though I'm rooting for GL, Cap has the potential to be a much more serious film with the dark themes of WW2 it has the advantage of being accepted as a great movie. But of course we have to let next year play out.

Galactus needs to devour some spammer worlds. It is getting a little much.

Thor's cast easily trumps the cast of GL and I am not a Marvel vs. DC guy. Just seems obvious to me. Ken's Shakespearean background is a plus for his directing Thor and I see the directors of the two films pretty much being a push. I guess we will know next spring/summer.

why do every actress needs to be a slut? is she desires success in hollywood?
I can't remember a single lady who is a top actor and she never got banged/dicked on screen.

Oh I got it,women in show business r meant only for pleasure, and Hollywood has got it right..said so mr.skin!!!

She's one of the few classy women in Hollywood anymore. I remember when I was in San Diego listening to the Mikey Show on Rock 105.3 and they talked about WWNPD-What Would Natalie Portman Do? At the time all the young adult former child stars were getting in trouble, but Nat stayed classy.
