Otherside: Okay guys I've heard a lot of picking apart of these photos so I thought I'd do a review on them to tell you guys my thoughts.

First Photo:

thor pic 1

I've got to say when I first looked at this photo I was actually surprised they did the sleeves the way they did... but I always liked that look best so I was very pleased! As with everything with the costume, the red cape, the chest piece, and everything. The only one complaint that I could give this picture, was that the costume looked slightly like it was made out of rubber. But this changed as shown in our latest picture... but I'll get to that in a second.

Second Photo:
odin, thor, and loki pic

Now I honestly like this photo for the most part. Since this does have several things slightly wrong with it I'm going to make a list and give my thoughts on subjects individually.

What's wrong with the photo:

Background doesn't look interesting: Okay honestly a gray background? This set might look cool on film but not in a photo all it says is: BORING!. What would have been better if they had either a black or a dark blue background with Odin in the background over Thor and Loki. Now that would have been cool... which brings me to another thing.

Positioning: Odin is standing right in front of the camera in fact you can hardly see around him! Thor and Loki seem as if they are just side thoughts... weird right?

Now the worst is yet to come...

Odin's face: This is just soooo weird I can't hardly believe it... but Odin isn't just casually smiling, he's got the dumbest looking grin on ever! Thor and Loki look fine in facial expression but Odin is horrible do I need to say more... yes I do! I'm not really complaining about this just slightly asking, "Why?" So I'll ask it, "Why does Odin have a golden patch over his eye?" Maybe he wanted to look like Nick Fury?

Oops wrong eye... I'm cool with it but still why is it needed?

Whew!

Now for the good things:

Odin's Armor: I like it and I'll tell you why... because it's translated beautifully from the comics:

Now think about it take the silly smiling Odin head off and put this one on:

odin pic 1

Now doesn't look too bad does it? Yeah, no helmet but is that the worst thing? I complete my case.

Loki's Armor: Again translated beautifully:

loki pic 2

Yeah it doesn't have the hat nor the yellow cape or well yeah still. Instead of the green suit he has a green cape... what's wrong with that... I'd like his helmet for the movie but it's not a big thing either.

Thor Holding The Mjolnir: You guys where soooo busy criticizing everything else in this photo you forgot the most important thing! The Mjolnir looks great and so does Thor holding it! Just like this!

Whew!

Third Photo:

thor and odin pic

Great just great Odin looks good and looks like he's telling something important to his son, and both their armors look great! Nooo rubber looking sleeves! Told you guys they'd fix that! Only thing wrong in this photo is the lettering is in the way!

I'm looking forward to Thor more than ever now! Aren't you?!?!

Thor opens May 6, 2011!

You do know that that second picture is them in a hallway right? I'm assuming a door has just opened in front of Odin, and something beyond that door is causing his grin.

@Chris Mclellan Spider-Man 3 was an awesome movie.

Awesome review Otherside. My two complaints are: there's no helmet on Thor. I'm glad they kept the red cape. I guess they are going with half classic, and half Ultimate.

My other complaint is that Loki just looks boring. I'm hoping he gets his helmet.

good stuff guys!

@CBK yeah probably but it's still a stupid grin...

@Chris McLellan agree with the narrow-minded idiots on this website! i agree u can't judge it just on that but still the second pic did have a few problems... i still liked it though, sides i wasn't the ones that where just like, "why don't we reboot now." i just said they could have done the second pic better! which they could have!

@teabag odin doesn't have an eye patch in the comics... if he did i never noticed... look at the pics of odin does he have an eye patch? i didn't see 1? sorry teabag but i don't see ur point...

@Destroyer14 agree SM3 was awesome!
i guess u'd like this helmet better?

Thank you for a possitive article! I like the pic and thought Odin's expresion was a hint at where they are in the movie: a proud father over a peaceful kingdom but, in the background two troublesome sons one arrogant and one jealous. Then i read all these fashion critics... Knee pad's and colors and capes and helments I thought it Was The Mighty Barbie movie being reviewed.

My biggest complain (which really isn't a BIG complain) is Odin. When I heard about Anthony Hopkins I was really happy because he's one of my favorite actors, but when I saw the pictures I was a bit worried. Odin's look (beard and hair) is way too... nice, and he seems to be happy all the time, he definitely looks silly. I hope, like I said before, that all this good happiness stuff is just a coincidence. And I don't want to be reiterative but I need to see some damn helmets. I like the last picture the most.

@teabag ok didn't know that he had an eye patch sorry... never noticed...

@anilrickly hope loki does a good job too dude!

@ngachacha waiting 4 the trailer too!

@bodwulf yeah i could see that still, it's a weird grin... yeah when i read all the comments i was like what? why aren't u guys rejoicing 4 a pic of thor with his hammer?!!?

@Akercocke yeah helmets would be nice but it's not bad about his beard idk i don't really mind it... although i hope some of the happy attitude get's lost...

Nice article. Haven't weighed in a while. A lot of worrying about the quality of costume and lighting in these images. The pic of the three Gods together is probably just a photograph...hence the "hospital lighting," as someone put it. We should all reserve judgment until after San Diego. These photos are released piecemeal to gauge fan reaction; there is no way they represent finished product, so why complain yet?

As to Odin's goofy grin: clearly Branagh drew heavily on the Kirby Odin. He'll grin, and then he'll get angry. He'll be jealous that Thor is getting with Jane Foster.

I wish Thor would have had Chainmail legs. And Odin would be in Chain mail as well. Other than that I think they look bad ass. There are no Helmets Marvel told me they said [frick] Helmets!

thanks Simonsonrules i agree! still it's a stupid grin... but yeah i understand...

@Ven0m I like the idea of chainmail stuff on them but it's not that big of a thing to me i'm ok with the way they did it... as 4 helmets... take a look at this article! http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=20200
helmets r going to be in the film! yay!

he has an eyepatch because in the asgardian religion odin trades one of his amazingly keen eyes to Mimir the guardian of the well of infinite wisdom. In exchange for his eye he recieves a sip of water from the well giving him vast wisdom.... although later he cutss of mimirs head to keep at his castle as an advisor....

I wish they had stayed more true to Loki comic costume. He would look awesome in his green suit and they could of made his cape gold instead of yellow.

I feel the same way about Thors boots, they could of used some type of gold look for his boots and ankle wraps, it wouldn't look silly at all. I still think Thor should have his ankle wraps, his knee protectors, and his wrist bands, these are things they could have done?

THEY GOT THE WRONG EYE!
IT IS ODIN'S LEFT EYE WHICH IS MISSING, NOT HIS RIGHT.
THIS IS IMPORTANT MYTHICALLY
