Chris Hemsworth Teases A New Weapon For Thor In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR

It's not a spoiler to mention the fact Mjolnir gets destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok, so what will be the God of Thunder's weapon of choice when he returns in Avengers: Infinity War? Read on for details...

Hela will destroy Mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok and when the God of Thunder lands in The Grandmaster's arena, he'll wield a pair of swords and a pretty unique looking blaster based on what we've seen in the trailers. However, those won't be making the jump to Avengers: Infinity War as Chris Hemsworth has now confirmed that the hero is going to have a brand new weapon there and it won't be his hammer!

Asked about the direction the epic superhero ensemble will take Thor in, the actor dropped a very interesting tease in regards to what will replace Mjolnir. "There is something pretty exciting coming. I think the fans will know and love and be
excited for it," he promised before refusing to reveal more.

Of course, we need only look at the comic books and concept art for Avengers: Infinity War to know that Hemsworth is referring to Jarnbjorn, an axe which can cut through Celestial armour and replaced Mjolnir when he was deemed unworthy and Jane Foster took over the Thor mantle. There has, however, been hints that Mjolnir will return to the God of Thunder's side before all is said and done.

@noahthegrand - I see what you did there. Also, I really hope Thor gets Mjolnir back as I've always been a huge fan of his hammer (pun intended?).

They could amalgamate Thor's ultimate Mjolnir with Jarnbjorn, or they could simply give him two weapons. A new Mjolnir with an Axe on the back, and then he has Jarnbjorn as a long staffed axed in the other hand perhaps. Although it doesn't seem like Thor gets Jarnbjorn in Ragnarok, because in the leaked infinity WAR trailer his weapon is nowhere to be seen, so I'm assuming throughout the movie there's an arc for Thor where he becomes worthy again.

If Thor gets Mjolnir back at the same moment Cap gets his shield back, i might faint from excitement.

I really wish it's the Ultimate Mjolnir instead of Jarnbjorn.

He must be talking about Ultimate Mjölnir. This concept art pretty much proves it:

We've also seen his new suit in the recent concept art. This will be full-on ultimate Thor.

Maybe he picks up STORMBREAKER...it could happen? That would open eyes and get some crowds jumping up and down. It would also pay homage to Beta Ray Bill.

He needs to get his original back at some point so Cap can pick it up and use it against Thanos. Cap picks it up to use it and then ends up dying after delivering a major blow to Thanos. ( The hammer would see Cap motives and intentions of sacrificing himself would make him worthy )

Thoughts?

@cjspade - Dude i get goosebumps when i think about the things Cap should do in A3 and 4. My personal favourite is if he's gonna yell "Avengers, Assemble!", preferably just after Tony gives him back the shield.

But lifting Mjolnir is another wishlist moment definitely.

Not on board with Cap dying though. No sir. I think it was my friend dethpillow who said no more dead Caps.
