Marvel Is Bringing THOR: RAGNAROK To Georgia Too

It seems the God of Thunder's (Chris Hemsworth) third standalone outing will be following Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 in using the new filming studio in Fayetteville, Georgia, as its base of operation. Check it out after the jump!

Marvel Studios is seemingly taking full advantage of the newly built Pinewood Atlanta Studios, in which Ant-Man was the first movie to be filmed, in Fayetteville, Georgia. Captain America: Civil War just wrapped production in the peach state last month, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 is scheduled to start shooting there in February next year. Now according to Twitter's informative Filming In Georgia, filming for Thor: Ragnarok will also take place at the Pinewood Atlanta Studios.

It was previously reported that Marvel Studios were considering shooting Chris Hemsworth's fifth turn as the Odinson overseas in Australia, but there is no word on whether or not that deal may come to fruition with Georgia set in stone. The Herald Sun reported late last week that the 2017 threequel would be the first movie shot in the Village Roadshow Studios that is currently being built in Oxenford, Australia. Apparently, the company is hoping to finish construction in time for both Thor: Ragnarok and Captain Marvel to use the sound stages before 2018's Commonwealth Games.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, and Anthony Hopkins, Thor: Ragnarok is currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle with no director yet attached, and is now set to be released in theaters on November 3, 2017. What do you think?

Love the Thor movies. One thing I want from this movie, is Thor's true power and strength.

I'd prefer if they shot this movie on actual landscapes. Just use the studio for the Asgard set.

But none of that matters because this movie is "currently being scripted by Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle". For the love of Odin, Feige, hire someone more qualified please. These two guys have a history of butchering Thor in the comics, movies, and in animation.

@ckal

The way I see it is, Thor was powerful in Thor 1 when he was wrecking the Jotuns (he destroyed a portion of the realm). But since then Thor, as a character, toned down his actions. Also, Thor hasn't really faced any villains that require him to go all out. I feel like we'll see Thor going all out in Ragnorak and IW.

Hope they dare to go more fantasy and less comedy. I dont mind the Marvel-Comedy but would like to see more fantastic powers and wierd shit. Not Thor riding a transit...

I guess this is going to show the 5th stone. The Norn-Stone = time stone. Since the Norns was in the trailer for AoU, we know they are in the MCU.
If the last stone is soul = heart = Heart of the Universe, T.H.A.N.O.S is spelled.

Just give me Beta Ray Bill please...no Gus, not SJP either, well, if I need a slump-buster, maybe take her for a spin...

I live around the corner from Pinewood Studios here in Ga. Marvel is said to have it locked down for the next 7 years.

I think TDW had more to do with Taylor and Marvel's problems collaborating and working together

It sounded like Taylor had a totally different movie before post production and editing happened

Yep DrKin -- agree...think they TASM2-like edited the shit outta it...more Malekith backstory would have been great, they shot it too...

Bring Thor to Latveria so that I may show him humility!

Definitey, would have been cool to see that, at the same time though, Taylor said that his Terminator movie was essentially what he wanted to do, and he was happy with the process, so, it makes me wonder if his un-edited TDW would have been much better

Malekith still would have sucked with more screen time. Ronan was Malekith with more screen time, and he was still weak. Malekith should have been more like his comic book counterpart; personality-wise and power-wise.

Man I need a good Thor film. I feel like they havent reached the full level of epicness that a Thor film should have. Hopefully Ragnarok delivers

THE water of sight cave scene...the deleted scene version IS SOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER than what we got in the film. The Norns are cool as hell

@Ramiel

Malekith had so much potential. I feel like Eccleston did a good job, but it would have been better if they stuck to the source. I think some more backstory could have helped, like if his face was already disfigured and they told the story behind it, stuff like that

Will this take place during 'Civil War'? Because I don't want 'Ragnarok' to take place anywhere near Earth (Midgard). The other Realms are okay, though.

Yeah, agree with you guys...but if I'd rather take more Malekith (in whatever capacity) over Darcy...Didn't get much Ronan backstory or screen-time either (understand thought, Gunn was introducing a bunch of new characters)...would have liked to see what turned them to the dark-side haha instead of quick voice-overs and thin development...

I hope Ragnarok displays his true godly power. The first Thor did give us a taste. Thor's thudnerstrike against the Frost Giants was very powerful

He should be summoning tsunamis and shit

@ComicsBornAndBred

Did we get any of those deleted scenes yet?

I remember reading this, still with they included Loki, and I really wanted to know who that lady in the cave was, can't stand when they put stuff in trailers that isn't in the actual movie

Thor:Ragnarok seems like it's going to suffer right out of the gate for two reasons but chiefly this: It's an epic that could be three movies and it's going to be one. Ragnarok should be every bit the "event" Civil War is going to be.

For all its faults, I still liked Thor 2...

Though I seriously hope they up their game for Ragnarok. I'm dying to see who they announce as director.

I live in Atlanta, and it was a blast being here while these movies were being made. I bumped into Corey Stoll (Yellowjacket) at the gym, saw Robert Downey Jr. at the Fernbank Museum with his younger son, saw the sets for Wakanda and saw the Capt. America stunt double in Midtown Atlanta shooting a scene. Crazy and supercool.

Walter Simonson's Thor should a blueprint to the story. Bring in several avengers to cameo into the movie.

@ RetroFit

Try comparing Captain American from Captain American: The First Avengers to Captain American in the Avengers. You could make the same comment about Caps cinematic improvement thanks to Whedon. I agree the Russos knocked it out of the park though but you don't have to poo poo on Whedon. He improved Cap just like the Russos did.
