SPOILERS: Kevin Feige Offers An Explanation For The Warriors Three's Fate In THOR: RAGNAROK

The Warriors Three make a very brief appearance in Thor: Ragnarok and now Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has offered an explanation for why the fan-favourite trio was given such little screentime.

It goes without saying that spoilers for Thor: Ragnarok follow, so if you haven't seen the movie, you should stop reading now! Still with us? Well, in the Marvel Studios threequel, Volstagg and Fandral are killed immediately by Hela when she arrives on Asgard and while Hogun manages to put up a slightly better fight, he too winds up being impaled by the Goddess of Death. That's it for The Warriors Three!

During a recent Q&A, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige was asked why exactly the fan-favourite trio
were handled this way and it seems it all boils down to ensuring that Hela made a big impact.

"Well, it was a – they, they had noble ends – mainly to serve the arrival of Hela, the arrival of the biggest villain into the MCU, who within the first five minutes destroys the hammer, kicks Loki and Thor out of Asgard, and kills almost anyone we’ve ever met before in the other movies. Which is really – we want it to start with a bang."

It's a shame that Marvel decided to treat The Warriors Three like this as they were never really given the opportunity to shine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They could have done, of course, but the time for that has passed so here's hoping Heimdall at least gets a decent role in Avengers: Infinity War!

Sif remains M.I.A. but Feige has previously hinted that she could show up elsewhere so we're just going to have to wait and see how things pan out for that particular Asgardian. What do you guys think?

Pointless stupid characters anyway. I'm glad they made more room for other characters

On another note, I'm VERY interested in seeing Thor numbers for thursday overseas, and then for the weekend, because in my theater last night the lady said it was ALL SOLD OUT TILL TUESDAY!

The title of this couldn't make it any more obvious that they die. Good job keeping it spoiler free for those who haven't seen it yet.
I already have, but it's not even out in the US yet.

It was such a stupid idea to kill them off. Fandral And Volstagg were made to look completely incompetent. Kevin Feige has the biggest case of verbal diarrhoea I've ever seen. Biggest villain yet? She achieved nothing and was once again made to look absolutely useless like every other marvel villain in the films.

It wouldn't be a big deal if they hadn't made them such likeable characters in the other movies but this was just such a waste.

I really wanted to see more from Skurge as well but nope he had to snuff it too, just as he was getting interesting.

@PurpleAki - maybe they'll be reborn eventually.

@PurpleAki - She achieved nothing? She slaughtered the Asgardians and destroyed Asgard. Asgardians are an endangered species now and Thor's future is completely unknown because of her. Just like with Hydra in Winter Solider did to S.H.I.E.L.D. I think you may be just a bit too bitter to see it clearly. And I'm with you that destroying The Warriors Three sucks. But that's exactly why they did it. They wanted the moviegoer to be pissed that Hela killed them.

''the biggest villain into the MCU''

So I guess they have more plans for Hela then

@Omegacron - I am reading some form of sarcasm in your comment. If not, then I think its weird the rest ignores it

@MalseMarcel - Nope, no sarcasm. It's basically the first time I've seen it confirmed anywhere that Hela would be a huge villain in the MCU and not just for Thor 3.
