Over the weekend, a first look at Thor: Love and Thunder's Marvel Legends action figures arrived online. Now, some even better shots have been revealed along with a few new story details.

Some descriptions are a little vague. Take Jane Foster's Mighty Thor, for example; all that tells us is, "Jane Foster's life is forever changed when she mysteriously comes to possess the hammer Mjolnir...and the power of the Mighty Thor." However, King Valkyrie's is a little more interesting as we learn that "a dangerous new visitor" to New Asgard forces her to "take up her sword once more."

You have to believe that's a reference to Gorr the God Butcher, and Thor: Love and Thunder's big bad (played by Christian Bale) also has a description. "Wielding a strange and terrifying weapon," it reads, "Gorr will let nothing stand in his way." Looking at that promo art and what we've seen in the comic books, that weapom almost certainly the Necrosword (once wielded by Hela in the MCU, of course).

There's still no sign of a trailer for the movie, and Thor: Love and Thunder holds the record for the shortest amount of time between a sneak peek premiering and an MCU movie's arrival in theaters.

Thor: Love and Thunder will blast into theaters on July 8!

@dragon316 - He looks like the Nova Corps. Which leads me to believe his new suit is designed on Xandar.

I got a bad feeling about this movie.

A Late trailer and heavily reported reshoots.

I know it's Marvel and it's not the first time this' happened, but I just hope they didn't let Tiaka completely off the leash.. Ragnorok was refreshing at the time but I'm not feeling Thor for full on comedy.

Also I'm having a hard time picturing Bale doing something to Taika's tone. Hes a great actor though, but it's sounds so different from what we're use to from him. Hopefully its kind of American Psycho-ish

Otherwise I'm liking that Thor's finally rocking the Helmet, though I wish it was the one we saw on the poster and briefly in the first movie, not liking the gold.

@UnderBelly - where’d you hear heavy reshoots?

@ShimmyShimmyYA - I'm sure I read somewhere they're basically reshooting everythijg involving Bale and adding more stuff with his Gorr

@UnderBelly - Taika is like a way cheesier James Gunn minus the character nuance.

@McMurdo - I just have the same feelings I did with Schumacher's Batman movies.

He made a fairly decent one in Forever, and then they let him loose and we got Batman and Robin! with the help of the against type casting in Schwarzenegger. Seems like deja vu. haha.. I will say though.. as corny as Batman and Robin was, Freeze had the best one liners in that campfest.

The movie isn't out yet though and have seen nothing other than what's reported to back up these concerns. So it's just an early feeling. Hope that changes when the trailer drops.

@McMurdo - I'm guessing that you are basing that on Ragnarok alone? Frankly I prefer Boy, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, What we do in the Shadows and Jojo Rabbit over anything I have seen from James Gunn. But as far as MCU goes, I do prefer GotG over Ragnarok, but prefer Ragnarok over GotGv2.

@TanukiTrooper - nah I'm basing it all on his entire filmography. I'll take Gunn every day.

I have yet to like a Thor movie, I doubt this one will be any different

@eGGtheGreat - I liked number 1, thought it was a good start. 2 had its problems and Ragnarok was just silly imo

@MoonClunge - the first one though not great is still the best Thor we've had in the MCU

@MoonClunge - I totally agree. I understand having some ELEMENTS of humor, but they've gone WAY overboard with the humor and campiness. I would've LOVED to have someone like Guillermo Del Toro or Peter Jackson do the Thor movies.

This will be the weakest of the three MCU movies this year.

@Jaspion - I'm doubting him because I'm not a big fan of his. He tends to put his comedy into everything, even at the expense of the project.

I disliked Ragnarok simply because I don't feel a Thor movie should be a comedy film. And that's what we got. I know the MCU puts comedy in all their movies, but I wouldn't call many of them actual comedy films. Ragnarok felt like a comedy film. And the weird soundtrack choices don't fit the Thor world.

Even his episode of Mandalorian with the stormtroopers trying to shoot the can. We've got troopers out in the desert and we're cracking jokes about how bad stormtroopers aim is, meanwhile, a couple miles away our heroes are pinned down by stormtroopers, and we're supposed to feel like they're in real trouble right after Taika just validated the fan joke that Stormtroopers can't hit their targets.

He just can't help himself, and for me, it's annoying.

King Valkyrie?

king noun

Definition a MALE monarch of a major territorial unit
especially : one whose position is hereditary and who rules for life

Every definition I've looked up has a "male ruler". Marvel, you're stupid.
UnderBelly
UnderBelly - 4/11/2022, 7:44 AM
@IronMan616 - Yeah I'm at a loss on that 1 too. I mean a Queen can rule and doesn't need a King.... We literally have a living example of this in the British Monarchy.
