VIDEOS: More From James Preston Rogers Campaign to be Thor

"I’m just a Canadian actor, chipping away at a living,” Rogers says. “Of course, if Brad wants it, he’ll take it. But I’m hoping Marvel will want a fresh face and if they do … I’m it.”

You have to be a warrior to play one. Or so 6’6”, former wrestler James Preston Rogers hopes. He’s up for the part of Thor, the pagan Norse God of Thunder, the alter ego of medical student Dr. Donald Blake in the Marvel comic. Kenneth Branagh is directing a big budget adaptation of the comic and is reportedly eyeing Brad Pitt, Gerard Butler, Viggo Mortensen and Canada’s Rogers for the lead.

“I’ve lived life. I’ve run the gamut of human emotions”, he continues. “I’ve loved, lost, suffered, cried. But some people think that once you’re over six feet tall, you can’t put one foot in front of the other! I want more! I want to sink my teeth into something. Thor is the closest I’ll get to Hamlet.”

“I think I’m young enough to do a series,” he notes.

Pitt is 45, Butler is 39 and Mortensen’s the old man at 50.

According to legend, Thor is a larger than life warrior, fearsome to gaze upon and mighty -- like a WWE wrestler. And Rogers has been there, done that and learned the lessons.

“Wrestling is a complete form of entertainment,” he explains. “It’s a little lowbrow, but you do your own choreography, you come up with your own character, you dress yourself as your character, you have to be in shape to be marketable and you have to have the wind capacity to carry on a match and in front of the most unforgiving crowd there is. And there’s only one take. You address the crowd and you do it in your underwear!”

"The thing about being a big guy in movies is that you die early. I got beaten up by Woody Harrelson and killed by Tom Selleck and Jim Caviezel in ‘Outlander.’ I’m always dying!” Rogers notes. “This is what appeals to me about playing Thor. He doesn’t die. Where else can I be 6’6’ and be in the forefront? If they’d give me a chance to show what I can do.”

I added these clips from the movie Outlander just so you could get an idea of what he looks like in an action movie, now keep in mind it's a minor role & I don't think he says more than 3 word's, but still.

at 3:08 , the guy on the left that picks up James Caviezel (Shaman's pick for Captain America) & at 6:33 you get to see him.

at the start of this clip JPR fights James Caviezel & 3:25 is the last little bit before he dies.

CRUSH - no offense, but do you know this guy? Three posts in as many days - are you his press agent? You're REALLY jonesing for this dude to get the part, aren't you?

Yeah loganoneil, as a matter of fact James Preston Rogers was my baseball coach when I was in grade 7 & I'm not his agent, but she is my Aunt, lol (joking)
and NO I'm NOT jonesing for this guy to get the part:

1. There's not alot of Thor information out at the moment, and because I live in Canada I see this guy all the time lately, he's been in lot's of News papers,MTV Canada & a bunch of other shit saying he wants to be Thor, I thought it was news, and that "some" people that go on CBM would want me to share the info.

2. loganoneil I'll be honest with you this guy hasn't proved himself yet to be a good actor & Marvel will most likely select someone that has a reputation, plus he does look like he should be the star of WrestleMania as opposed to the star of Thor, and I'm not to keen on Wrestler's being big-time actors but, for every Hulk Hogan which sucks, there's a Dwayne"The Rock"Johnson, who is a decent actor, that takes acting serious & keeps getting better with each movie.

3. IMHO logan, I've said it before on here that I would like to see Gerard Butler as Thor, 'cause he could pull of the look and he's a good actor, with a great voice for the role. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MARVELMANIACS/news/?a=6087
But I think this guy has a chance & I wouldn't be mad if JPR got it, plus you have to think the time will be split between an actor playing Thor & another actor as Dr. Donald Blake, that's how they will link Thor to the Avengers, so maybe the heavy acting can fall on the shoulders of the actor plaing Dr.Blake, leaving the Ass kicking to the guy that will be Thor & I know that Thor has an almost shakespearean dialogue feel to it, but with Branagh's direction and if JPR can be coached right, I think he could be Thor.

4.& Honestly if this guy did somehow get picked over the rest (which might be unlikely), well then I'd feel like I gave the readers of CBM the information early and (if he did get picked),to be able to say to friends "oh ya, I knew about that months ago"

Just to clear thing's up logan.

I thought you were pulling for Gerard Butler (he's a favorite of mine too). I agree, I'm not too keen on the idea of a 'wrestler' getting the part when there are other 'proven' choices. Here's a thought - IF they're going to do the Dr. Blake/Thor split, how about having director himself playing the part of Blake?

This guy isnt bad but... Its just that women HAVE to want to have sex with him. I mean EVERY woman has to want to have sex with him. They'll find someone similar to this guy, but alot better looking.

The dude seems cool but as an actor, i think he has to earn his way on becoming Thor or any major character and now is not the time. Wrestlers are known to overact (99% of the time) and id hate to see a very cheesy and corny Thor movie.

Thor is a super hero with size, strength, and height over 6"4 from every incarnation. This guy is a fresh face that 110% true. However, so was Lou Ferrigno when he became the Hulk. So was Chris Reeves, when he became Superman. So was Hugh Jackman when he became Wolverine. James has the muscle mass, height and the acting skills to be Thor. Just check out James Preston Rogers video on the internet. They are really good. Every day the demand for this guy to be Thor goes up. I am sure James Preston Rogers will make this movie worth the wait.
