Five films in, it appears as if moviegoers have finally had enough of the Transformers franchise. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that The Last Knight debuted on Wednesday with a disappointing $15.7 million. That pales in comparison to both the $37.7 million made by Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen's $62 million. Both of those opened on a Wednesday too.

Tracking pointed to a five-day haul of $70 million - $75 million, a huge dip from Transformers: Age of Extinction's $100 million
haul, but Wednesday's number signals a disappointing $65 million.

The hope now is that Transformers: The Last Knight will be able to make up for this disappointing result overseas. $217 million was spent on the release before marketing costs and there's a very good chance it will still be a hit. However, it's unlikely to get anywhere near $1 billion and there's a very strong possibility that this performance could change Paramount's plans for all those spinoffs and sequels.
