A couple of weeks ago, we got word that Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was being described as a "bit of a mess" after a round of test screenings, but the first reactions are now online, and they tell a very different story.

The franchise has always made a lot of money for Paramount Pictures, but the movies have never exactly been what you'd call critical darlings. However, 2018's Bumblebee was widely viewed as a turning point, and it seems Rise of the Beasts might just keep things on track.

Though there have been some of the usual criticisms (cheesy dialogue, simplistic story), we've yet to come across a completely negative Tweet.

Have a look at the first reactions below, along with a behind-the-scenes featurette with some new footage.

Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new breed of Transformer – the Maximals – to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons.

Steven Caple Jr. directs, and the sequel stars Peter Cullen, Ron Perlman, Pete Davidson, Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Cristo Fernández.

Rise of the Beasts arrives in theatres June 9, 2023.
