AMC's Fear The Walking Dead has added some more potential zombie fodder in the form of Chuck actress Mercedes Mason. Though her exact role is unknown at this time, she's down as a series regular along with last week's new addition, Elizabeth Rodriguez (Orange is the New Black.)

The main focus of the show will be Kim Dickins' guidance counsellor Nancy, and Cliff Curtis as divorced teacher Sean Cabrera. The first six-episode season is set to air sometime this Summer with a second expected to follow in 2016. Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey will also star, with Adam Davidson (Friday Night Lights, Fringe) directing the pilot. Robert Kirkman has confirmed that the series will start out as a prequel and deal with events leading up to the outbreak, but will eventually catch up to the current timeline of The Walking Dead.

On topic: I've yet to finish the last season regular Walking Dead. I used to watch with some friends, then missed one session and now I'm still stuck before the midseason finale. Just can't find any motivation to continue since then.

So I'll probably watch this if my friends make watching it a regular thing again, but it's not really something I'm hyped about in any way.

As a huge horror fan that grew up watching George Romero movies, I really do want to love The Walking Dead. It's just so repetitive and slow paced, that I watch it more out of some sense of obligation to the genre rather than actual enjoyment. It's a real slog just to get through a season, and I think that it would really benefit from less episodes per season. Less filler, more killer.
