THE WALKING DEAD: Check Out The Teaser For February's Mid-Season Premiere - MAJOR SPOILERS Ahead

We posted some SPOILERS for tonight's mid-season finale of The Walking Dead earlier on, and now that the episode has ended, we have the teaser promo for the show's 2019 return. Check it out after the jump.

The Walking Dead fully embraced its horror roots tonight in a genuinely creepy mid-season finale that not only introduced the new threat of the mysterious Whisperers, but killed off a fan-favorite main character.

Despite still being alive in the comics, Jesus met his end in tonight's installment when he got a bit too cocky while dispatching what he believed to be a couple of walkers. Unfortunately for the highly-skilled warrior, his intended target was actually a human wearing the skin of one of the undead, who ducked his strike and ran him through with a blade of his own.

Things didn't look good for his companions when The Whisperers began to surround them, but the promo for February's mid-season premiere reveals that they make it back to Hilltop. How will Michonne react when she finds out that Negan has escaped and Gabriel is the one responsible?

Speaking of the former leader of The Saviors, the teaser also confirms that he'll be heading back to The Sanctuary - yet another major departure from what happens in the comics.

Tell us, what did you think of the "Evolution" mid-season finale of The Walking Dead? The show is set to return on February 10th..

"We slightly change things from the comics to keep people guessing"... sure lol. Even if this season is decent, they've changed so much in 2 years that I lost interest

I must be one of the few people left who still likes The Walking Dead and I love the fact that it's deviating from the comic, actually keeps me interested

@blitzburgh - deviating is fine but they absolutely wasted Jesus as a character, while a dishrag like Tara is still around. That's absurd.

@GreedoSarducci - yeah no arguments here, not a fan of Tara character at all or father Gabriel for that matter

@GreedoSarducci - The actor who plays Jesus agrees and was actually glad he got killed off. Too bad theres a different showrunner now that wouldve actually done his character justice.

Really good episode and scary at that. It's scary when you have walkers looking for you and whispering. Looking forward to the next eight episodes. TWD is back.

It's such a dead meme to hate on The Walking Dead now. It's so obvious most of the trolls who trash talk it haven't even given season 9 a shot. I'll be the first to say that seasons 6-8 were not very good (far from terrible compared to other shows on right now), but season 9 has brought the show back to number 1 for me. It's the best the show has been since season 3.

They did waste the Jesus character. He never really had a story arc, his character would pop up from time to time to just kinda be there and that’s it. They could have done so much more with it and I’m sure the actor feels similar. As far as Tara goes, I don’t mind her so much but father Gabriel is definitely a horrible character. I wish he would have been eaten a long time ago.

Do we know Jesus is gone/dead for good? No way to "save him" from the injury?...
TechNation

@Starlight - According to talking dead he is gone; unless it was just a big swerve.

@TechNation - I hope so, I mean, with everything that happened in this mid season, I don't really see the NEED to kill a major character in the last episode; ACTUALLY, saving him would do the trick just the same (as everyone feels he's gone/dead), but we'll see...

TechNation - 11/29/2018, 3:25 PM
@Starlight - Well, i read the actor wanted off because they were not doing justice to the character as they do in the comics...
Starlight

@TechNation - Yeah, read it... he's dead for good....

It's at the point where the actors are asking to be killed off the show. Daryl, Carol and Michonne are now tasked with being the leads and bringing eyeballs to screens...a lot to ask for, which is why it's looking like we're headed towards Negan becoming the main character and attraction.
