UPDATE: Norman Reedus Said To Be Up For A Role In THE CROW Remake

Reedus may swap hunting the undead for becoming one of them in the upcoming remake of The Crow. Also, Twilight's Kristen Stewart was said to be considered for the role of the doomed Shelly, but the studio passed. Read on for more.

The Schmoes' scooper "The Phantom" has struck again, this time bringing us some very exciting info on the upcoming remake (or re-adaptation if you prefer) of The Crow. Last we heard Luke Evans had actually signed on, but it seems as though things didn't work out as according to The Phantom, none other than Daryl [frick]ing Dixon himself, also known as Norman Reedus, is the top choice to play the lead role of "James" in the movie. Now we had been led to believe that this take would once again use the character of Eric Draven from James O'Barr's original graphic novel, but evidently that won't be the case. Apparently there's been no confirmation from Reedus' people, but given The Phantom's track record I wouldn't be against an official announcement soon enough. There's more -- word is the studio were looking at Miss bitey-lip herself, Kristen Stewart, for the role of James' unfortunate girlfriend Shelly but "shied away from the idea after hearing that she wouldn’t attract an audience." Seems a bit harsh! Anyway, what would you guys think if Reedus traded the crossbow for some Gothy facepaint? Sound off in the usual place.

UPDATE: Crossed wires on this one. I was led to believe that Reedus was up for the lead -- meaning The Crow himself -- but he is actually wanted for a supporting role of "James", and Luke Evans is still very much on board as Eric Draven. Apologies for the mix up.

... is that crap still happening?

It can't keep a director, it can't get a star... just give it up already.

It WANTS to stay dead.

the only person who should direct this reboot is the director of the recent evil dead movie with actor Sam Witwer as Eric Draven

@MBZ1993

Can you explain the boner everyone on this site has for Sam Witwer? Or what I can watch so I can understand where the love is coming from. All I have seen him in is Smallville and he was nothing special.

I don't believe it. The Phantom may have an accurate record, but this just seems so out of the blue, and that criticism for Kirsten Stewart seems very made-up and unprofessional. I think this is fake.

@l0rdleg0las

i agree he wasnt that good in smallville but if u play star wars force unleashed 1 and 2 and watch being human you can see he can pull off Eric or any dark role

I think they probably meant wouldn't attract THIS audience..in other words Crow fans. But yeah I do think she's pretty good.

Kristen Stewart "wouldn't attract an audience"?

Name one major adaptation she was in that flopped.
(Unfortunately her indie dramas haven't done well, but I don't put that on her. They don't exactly advertise themselves.)

She's a great actress. Sure, she plays the same types of characters fairly often, but she's hardly alone in that. Give her a good role and watch what happens.

@MBZ

Thank you. I will check out Being Human to understand the praise this guy gets. It is seriously near a Fassbender level the amount of love he gets, and aside from Smallville I'd never heard of him.

@Vaportrail

What movies has her name carried by itself? Twilight had a built in audience that would have watched it no matter who was in it. Snow White's marketing was completely built around Theron and Hemsworth. And then what else is there? Adventureland(which i admit was decent) but made near nothing. The Runaways did nothing at the box office. On the road has her topless jerking dudes off and still no one went to see that.

Unless she is in a Twilight type of adaptation that will succeed with anyone she doesn't bring people to the theaters.

Good choice, he would fill seats more than Luke Evans, IMO.

Kristen Stewart sucks almost as hard as the Twilight series to which she belonged.

Having said that, there is something horrible about her that makes be want to bottom out in her love bayou.

.....and having said THAT, I'll give a big "Fcuk Ya" to this if it's true. Reedus is the man and would own, although everyone pretty much agreed, the original was the business and can't be topped. I'd still give him my blessing in trying to make another.

[frick] Kristen Stewart. Both ways.

Remember that movie where that powerful alien told a random priest who he really was?

I'm watching that now. It's even more ridiculous than when it was in theaters in July of 2013.

There are maybe three young actresses who can attract an audience and I doubt they are lining up to play the girlfriend in "The Crow". Neither Luke Evans nor Norman Reedus are box office draws and are complete unknowns internationally so they need a better leading man as well.

I think i'll pass.

Which is funny because i've been saying that ever since the remake was announced and that Mark Wahlberg was going to be the lead in the film.

This doesn't even sound like a remake anymore? It just sounds like another terrible crow movie. I really wish they would stop trying to cash in on James O'Barr, Alex Proyas, and Brandon Lees work. Didn't O'Barr even say that he made the movie he wanted to make with Proyas and Lee? I think so? Re-release the original in theaters. Or perhaps a directors cut. Either (or both) would be nice.

I don't want to see a crow remake, but if they did I liked Evans as the Crow. I seen pics of him that looked cool. As for Norman taking over the roll....hes a badass on wdead, but his voice is very ed furlong crow. I don't think I would want to see that. And Stewart....the mouth breather.....keep her away from everything but shitty tween movies. Shes a dreadful actress that if she was shelly, I would tell Draven to just stay in the grave cause she prob deserved what she got. hahaha.
