Buffy the Vampire Slayer Remake with Kristen Stewart?

A movie telemarketer freaks out Superkal27...

By SuperkaL27 - Dec 16, 2009 05:12 PM EST

Hi here guys heres the scoop from and imdb poster! whats do u guys think? personal i dont Mind Matt Dillon as Angel at ALL, but kristen Stewart as buffy? GOD NO SHE SUCKS!! ... Okay, this is a true story. This weekend I had a call on my caller ID from California, and as I thought it might be one of my cousins I answered. It was a telemarketer doing market research for a movie studio. I felt bad hanging up so I answered her few questions. Most were simple: What movies are you looking forward to seeing this holiday season? Based on the trailer, what would you guess Avatar is about? Have you heard of Nine? The questions ran like this for a while. One of the last questions was "Would you see a Fraggle Rock Movie if it had modern rock bands playing music for the puppets?" I said yes, only because I honestly don't care that much. But the question that came next threw me. I was asked if I would see a Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie. I said I would if they brought back the original tv show cast and Joss Whedon. The woman said that the studio was going to have a different cast and writter, but here is the statement that sent me over the edge:

"But listen to the star power we think we can wrangle! Would you see it if Buffy were played by Kristen Stewart and Angel were played by Matt Dillon?"

I told her that I would absolutely not see that movie, that most fans would probably not see it with a new writer either. I explained that Kristen Stewart is not only a terrible choice, but they are clearly trying to get female viewership based on the whole Twilight thing, but the main draw to theaters is not her, but Edward and Jacob, and when the girls see vampires that don't sparkle and no Edward, they are not going to see it. Also, Matt Dillon would be terrible. I then hung up the phone in disgust.

What do you guys think...with me? Against me? Bella the Vampire Slayer?

no more vampires! dear lord... i wouldn't be surprised if Spider-man 4 had Morbius. Kristen Stewart is only an okay actress. just don't overuse her! thats what happened w/ Eddie Murphy, Jim Carrey, and now Will Ferrell. they kinda wear on ya... don't let her. she has potential!

I'm pretty sure this is garbage. If I'm not mistaken, they can't use any of the characters created for the show.Is that correct? Why can't they just get together and make a movie? He's been wanting to do one for years, but couldn't get it together.Well now they want to make one, so why not come to an agreement?Wouldn't it be in their best interests to have him involved? This would be the perfect time.Dollhouse just got canceled, and as far as I know, he doesn't have anything lined up at the moment.Hell, it's only been 6 years! That's way too soon for a reboot.I mean, it's not like Highlander, where the franchise can only be saved by starting over, Buffy and Angel went off the air as really good shows. Why wouldn't they want to continue it?

I almost vomitted while reading this article... Buffy is one of my all time favorite television shows, while Twilight is my most hated move of all time ( yes, even more than Batman & Robin! And thats saying something...) If this happens, I will personally fly to the US from Australia, find Kristen Stewarts house, charter a limo there, walk to the front door, politely introduce myself, then PUNCH HER IN HER STUPID MONKEY FACE!!!

One of the best lines a character could have was to a question a different character asked. . . The initial character wanted to know what had happened to the other character to which he replied , "I had my throat cut and all my friends abandoned me."

I'm pretty sure that Joss Whedon, the writer of the t.v. series, owbs the rights to the characters he created a.k.a. Giles (the character, not the watcher), Angel, Spike, Xander, Willow, and Dawn. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Stewart . . . Bleh
Dillon . . . too old
a remake of Buffy without Whedon . . . priceless crap
for some actors/writers are ireplacable, for everyone else there's rebootable crap

Kuzui Enterprises, consisting of Fran and Kaz Kuzui, own the rights to the Buffy story and all its characters. They acquired those rights from the author Joss Whedon as part of the deal to make the movie in 1992. My understanding is that Joss walked out on the filming of that movie because they bastardized his script. The Kazuis gave Joss control over the Buffy TV series (1997-2003) only because they thought it would flop. Suffice it to say that the Kazuis and Joss have incompatible visions and agendas for the Buffy story.

I’m sure Joss would love to continue the Buffy TV series in movie form. But he will never get permission. The Kuzuis think they can earn a fortune remaking Buffy into a modern day Wonder Woman series. A remake is not a continuation of the original story. It’s doing the same story over again but with changes to the plot to suit current social fads and special effects capabilities.

While there may be an audience that will pay to watch a series of B movies about a super chick named Buffy fighting vampires, I won’t, no matter how improved the special effects. On the other hand, if they are going to be first class movies that can stand on their own, why use the name Buffy?

kenny38606 it is funny you brought up Highlander. One of my fears about a Buffy/Angel movie is that if they wait too long Angel & Spike will look old.

Did you see how bad Christopher Lambert looked in his last movie? How can you do a story about an immortal who was changed at like 20 when the guy looks 50?

From how old David Boreanaz is starting to look on Bones; time is running out

I agree with Superkal27. Matt Dillion might work as Angel. Unfortunately, the character, Angel, will not be in the remake. Quoting from the web page below:

"The new “Buffy” film, however, would have no connection to the TV series, nor would it use popular supporting characters like Angel, Willow, Xander or Spike."
