ARROW Alum Stephen Amell Dismisses The Possibility Of Returning To The Arrowverse In Future

We said goodbye to Oliver Queen/Green Arrow/The Spectre in Crisis on Infinite Earths, but actor Stephen Amell has now ruled out the possibility of an Arrowverse return for any sort of future cameo...

Stephen Amell has vowed to interact with fans on a daily basis to combat loneliness caused by the Coronavirus outbreak, and during an Instagram livestream earlier today, the Arrow alum addressed the possibility of returning as Oliver Queen on any of the Arrowverse shows in the future.

"No, I’m done," he confirmed. "That was good. It was a good eight years but it was time to be done."

Clearly, Amell is ready to move on from his time as the DC Comics superhero, but he did admit that he had been watching The CW the night before to check out Roswell, New Mexico. "It was actually really, really weird to watch The CW again. It was weird seeing promos for Supergirl and Flash and Batwoman again. It seems like a different lifetime. I don’t think I’ll be doing that again."

One fan asked if the actor had watched the Green Arrows and the Canaries backdoor pilot, but it sounds like it may have passed him by. "I actually haven’t seen that episode because I wasn’t in it," Amell confessed. "I haven’t gotten around to watching it but I’m sure I will at some point."

Finally, he confirmed that his new Starz wrestling drama Heels has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That's not surprising, but he's clearly anxious to get back to work on that.

Given what Amell has previously said about the way Green Arrow's death was filmed and the fact he was pretty adamant on leaving The CW series behind, it's hard not to wonder if there's more to this story. Chances are he was just ready for something new, though, and we're excited to see what comes next for him both with Heels and beyond.

Are you disappointed that he won't be returning to the Arrowverse?

It'd be nice if he came back every once in awhile but it should be held off for some time. The Arrowverse is gonna be around a long time anyways. It would make his return THAT much more special.

@Himura - yeah. Considering the next crossover will be back to basics, it should be for the next big event at least. And with some reason why they cant rely on spectre all the time.

I'm good with him not coming back. Maybe he can return as a vision in another 5-6 years or something? But nothing more than a cameo like that

Don't bring him back till the next major event, like if they do Infinite Crisis or Final Crisis or Zero Hour

He's earned his rest so I get him.

If they come up to him with the right idea and at the right time he will say yes.

It would be nice to maybe see him come back once more down the road for a major crossover, say in several years. But I'm also not surprised that he is not planning to return to the Arrowverse.

As always, thank you Stephen for a great portrayal of Oliver Queen and 8 years of Arrow. It was one hell of a ride.

Forget Amell. We need a good cinematic Green Arrow.

@johnnymarr - A Green Arrow played by a dude who can act would be a nice change of pace

Oliver should have died on Arrow with the Arrow cast apart of it. His death was handled so poorly in Crisis that it doesn't even feel like his show had a finale. It's just weird how it's suddenly all over.

Say what you will about Smallville, but the finale felt properly earned. When that last shot went to black, it held weight. It felt like the book was closing on a 10 year journey. Arrow's was just blah. Like, "That's it?"

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I just considered the last episode of Arrow before Crisis as their unofficial finale. All the scenes were definitely meant to be farewells to the cast. Everything after that episode felt like Arrow's epilogue.
