Says Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg:

“Our Nyssa certainly has shades of Talia. Katrina auditioned for Shado and it actually came down to Katrina and Celina [Jade] and honestly, part of it was just that because we knew she'd have scenes with Slade [played by Manu Bennett], and it just felt like a Spartacus overkill. But she's somebody that we've been a fan of. When this part came up, we saw a lot of people for it, but she certainly is exotic and beautiful and smart and our stunt guys are over the moon, because she can do a lot of her own stunts.” Kreisberg also noted that Nyssa is, “the next wave of the League of Assasins that comes to Starling City. But she has some interesting secrets as well...”

Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW. "Heir to the Demon" can be seen February 5.

Yeah, I'm guessing Talia had too much red tape around her due to appearing in The Dark Knight Rises. Still, it's always nice to see another character brought to life. I like the costume.

@Scorn probablly because WB will use Talia for big screen sometimes.

WB owns ALL the characters, movies, and TV shows involved.
AND STILL they could manage to have Ra's al Ghul daughter be Talia.
Red tape?
Goodness, just get out of your own way.

Surely they're just trying to avoid the Nolan-verse with Talia, don't blame them, be really interesting (more like awesome) though if they did bring Liam in as Ras...

Still laugh at this...

Also reminds me of a sexier Olivia Munn a bit.

@batz11
I don't know about that. I was at Stephen Amell's Q&A at Fan Expo last August. He said Nolan is basically keeper of the lore for DC. They people from Arrow had to approach him for permission to use The Flash, so it could be quite a big universe they have planned. I can definitely see your point though, two Talia's could be weird.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, more just the 'rebirth' of Talia would be weird if they were 'borrowing' from the Nolan-verse at all...

I'll give credit where credit is due: they aren't [frick]ing recycling Talia for the billionth time.

Talia, Shado, Shiva, Cheshire, Nyssa... lol, 5 badass Eastern martial art grey DC characters.

I am happy to see they went with Nyssa over Talia. Because she is crazier and unpredictable. I wonder if in Arrow they will bring in Ra's son too. That would be interesting because Ra's hates his son and looks at him like a piece of crap. Something that gets on your boot and you need to just throw it away. Nyssa will be interesting because if they do bring in Talia at a later date you will have the two sisters going at each other. I do want to know why they changed her last name though.

The costume designers for this show should pat themselves on the back.

They deserve their time to shine too.
