Stephen Amell Clarifies FLASHPOINT Comments; Says He Confirmed Nothing In Regards To ARROW
Stephen Amell has confirmed that recent comments made by him at the Heroes & Villains Fan Fest this past weekend about how The Flash's "Flashpoint" will affect Arrow were taken out of context...
Yesterday, ComicBook.com ran a report claiming that during a convention appearance over the weekend, Stephen Amell said "sure" in response to a question about Flashpoint impacting Arrow, adding "you bet" when someone followed up by asking, "majorly?" Needless to say, that's all pretty vague, but with the internet being what it is, it predictably didn't take long for his comments to be turned into the actor confirming that the events of The Flash would end up having an affect on Arrow.
Now, Amell has taken to Facebook to make it clear that Arrow will NOT definitely be affected by Flashpoint in a major way, stating: "Actually I sarcastically said "sure"... And then I seriously said, "I have no idea whatsoever"... but let's go with confirm, I guess." This is the problem with second hand comments made during panels which are then passed on through social media, and jumping to the conclusion that he confirmed anything with comments as vague as those above was clearly a leap.
There's a very slim change of course that the actor said more than The CW would like and is now backtracking on that, but The Flash having any sort of impact on Arrow always felt like a stretch. A lot of people who watch that show don't necessarily also watch The Flash, so season five kicking off with an entirely different status quo would be beyond confusing. We're just going to have to wait and see.
