Gotham Knights has started production in Canada, and a new set photo has revealed Bruce Wayne's grave. However, looking at the wording on the headstone, it appears the world might know he was Batman. After all, why else would it say, "He lived in the shadows. Now he lives in our hearts"?
As The CW is currently shooting the pilot episode, it appears the show will kick off with the Caped Crusader's funeral. Another photo is doing the rounds showing that, but the photographer was too far away for us to see who is in attendance. While there had been rumours Gotham Knights will focus on Nightwing, Bruce's adopted son in this world will be Oscar Morgan's Turner Hayes.
While it seems unlikely that one of the former Robins (Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, or Tim Drake) is going to take centre stage, we know the cast includes Fallon Smythe as Harper Row/Blue Bird, Navia Robinson as Carrie Kelley (also a former Robin) and Anna Lore as Stephanie Brown/Spoiler.
Written by Batwoman scribes Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams, Gotham Knights picks up in the aftermath of Bruce Wayne's murder, with his rebellious adopted son forging an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. As the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s been.
However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviours known, of course, as the Gotham Knights.
Danny Cannon will direct and executive produce the pilot, though it's yet to be ordered to series by The CW. With cameras now rolling, we're hoping to soon see what these young heroes look like. Remember, the show isn't expected to be set in the Arrowverse and will likely be standalone.
