Ruby Rose has already shared an Instagram post expressing her excitement about landing the role of Kate Kane, a.k.a. Batwoman, on The CW, and while appearing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon the Aussie actress reiterated that she's overwhelmed to be playing the first openly gay superheroine to headline her own show.

At one point, Fallon mentions that kids will now be dressing up as her character for Halloween, to which Rose begins to get emotional. She then goes on to reveal that she had to skip The Meg after-premiere party for fear of either blurting out the news or bursting into tears.

“It’s a game-changer. I found out an hour before I did the premiere for The Meg and I was so nervous doing the red carpet, so I basically skipped everybody because I kept spontaneously crying … I feel like the reason I got so emotional is that growing up, watching TV, I never saw someone on TV that I could identify with, let alone a superhero, you know?”

Tell us, are you looking forward to seeing Ruby debut as Batwoman? How do you think she'll do in the role? Drop us a comment down below.

This will be the first ep of a CW show I'll check out since the Black Lightning pilot and I'm incredibly happy for her, the fans, and the LGBTQ community.

But if I'm being honest, it's still the CW and the show is gonna be dogshit.

@nibs - Too bad about Black Lightning. That show had a serious uptick following that relatively laughable first episode.

Wow, an interview in which Jimmy didn't do his fake laugh!
In all seriousness, she's such a sweetheart. I'm happy for her. I hope she delivers, people like her in the role and she gets her show.

@Pantherpool - The thing I love about her was that she is a survivor and used her struggles to better herself and help those who are going through the same.

She was suicidal and conflicted on her gender and was bullied for beinglesbiab. And she found her own style and owned it.

I feel like a hypocrite, because I hate it when the general public or the rest of Hollywood rolls their eyes at CBM-related stuff... but I feel like actors that land CB roles these days take it a bit too seriously.

Subconsciously I think I'm just kinda used to the 2000 - early 2010 days when only fans would freak out about actors getting these roles, while the actors themselves would just be like "its great, and I'll make sure to do my best!" and that would be the end of it unless reporters got the chance to directly ask them about it again.

Nowadays I feel like because the CB scene is so big, actors... like to use the spotlight on social media and get a bit overly-emotional about it in front of everyone than they need to be. It must be GREAT to land a paying gig like this I'm sure, and if they were childhood geeks (like Zachary Levi) than even better-- but not all of them are, and again, it just wasn't always like this is all.

@Kurne - I think it's mostly what you said regarding childhood geeks. Tom Holland grew up as a Spiderman fan and today he is Spiderman.

Robert Downey Jr. Is so grateful for Iron Man for giving him a second chance and becoming influential amongst kids and adults as a survivor of drug addiction.

Mark Ruffalo finally had a role his children could look up to and he was struggling finding a role he could allow his children to watch him in.

There is a multitude of reasoning amongst emotional actors attached to a superhero role. .

I am only happy for her because of her self-esteem issues, nothing to do with her sexuality.

Well this is certainly great for her. I'm not particularly a fan (though she was great in John Wick 2), so I'm hoping she has a good time playing the role.
