Like The Flash, Supergirl returns from its winter hiatus in January, and we have the first footage from "Supergirl Lives" for you guys below.

Kevin Smith directed the episode, whuch will see Kara and co. deal with the fallout from the defeat of anti-alien organization CADMUS, and the emergence of a new interstellar threat.

The teaser carries the familiar tagline "Truth, Justice and the American way," and features shots of James Olsen suited up as Guardian, the villainous Roulette, and a glimpse of an injured/powerless Girl of Steel on what appears to be a different planet.

Now, in Season Two, Kara has left the safety of being Cat Grant’s assistant in order to figure out what she really wants to do, while as Supergirl she continues to work at the DEO., protecting the citizens of National City and searching for Jeremiah and Cadmus. Along the way, she will team up with Superman (Tyler Hoechlin) to battle new villains, as she strives to balance her personal life with her life as a superhero.

Supergirl Season 2 returns with new episodes on Monday, January 23rd at 8pm.

Smallville did the powerless, red sun thing plenty of times so I don't know what knew aspects Supergirl will bring to it.

I swear, if Hank is the real and FINAL Cyborg Superman, i'm gonna be pissed.
They can still play the Dean Cain = Cyborg Superman card, but there's a twist.
He'll be one of the good guys.
Cyborg Superman AND a father figure, just like in the comics.
I HATED the way they revealed that both of them (Hank and Jeremiah) were alive, a quick way to and the first half of the season, no build up or shit... what a waste of a good story.... :\

I guess I appreciate that Smith doesn't put his own personal stamp on these episodes he directs, but... all these shows do feel very samey. Smith is a guy who could legitimately handle an old-school bottle episode. Or at least I think he could at some point.

I've spent the last two weeks catching up on the CW stuff and "Title Character fights Evil Versions of Themselves and Mysterious Masked Schemers with the help of their Quirky Team of Supporting Characters" is really really worn out. At least Legends feels a little free-wheeling.

@Spock0Clock - Honestly, it makes me appreciate the complexities and nuance of Marvel Netflix and how it hasnt fallen into this deep hole.

I think each hero has a supporting cast in the netflix shows, its never really them being SUPER DEPENDENT on them. Claire being the chief supporting friend, her help is more genuine. Kind words of wisdom, a moral compass in the flesh, the occasional sip of coffee haha.

And the fact that when the defenders [frick] up, there's little to no moment of "we forgive you cause you're family." More often than not, their supporting characters will hate their guts, legitimately. Consequences stick for a while in terms of relationships.

@ComicsBornAndBred - Netflix shows are not comparable to televised shows at all. They don't have to worry about commercial breaks, appealing to all different audiences, ratings, etc.

If there were a DC or Vertigo show on Netflix, it would be similar. Your fanboy is showing.
