ELSEWORLDS Crossover Event Will Feature Tyler Hoechlin Playing Two Different Supermen

In addition to two different versions of the Scarlet Speedster, the upcoming DC TV Elseworlds crossover event will also feature Tyler Hoechlin playing two very different versions of the Man of Steel...

Earlier this month, we caught a pretty good look at Tyler Hoechlin filming scenes as Superman for the upcoming DC TV "Elseworlds" crossover event which will air from December 9-11, and in a surprising turn of events, he was actually pictured wearing two very different costumes: his classic red-and-blue threads and a sleek new black suit.

While the reasoning was unclear at the time, the latest batch of set photos have shed more light on what the crossover may be planning as it appears that he'll actually be playing two different versions of the Man of Steel - one good and one evil.

The always reliable Canadagraphs managed to snap some photos from an exterior location yesterday featuring Hoechlin filming a critical scene alongside Melissa Benoist (Supergirl), Grant Gustin (The Flash), and Stephen Amell (Green Arrow). Hoechlin was in the black suit while his stunt double was wearing the red-and-blue one. Details are murky, but the scene in question will feature black suit Superman taking Barry hostage at a Kryptonian monument of some sort and then when Oliver and Kara try to intervene, he lets Barry go and steals a very large book (the Book of Rao?) from his doppelgänger before flying away.

There's plenty of photos at the link below, so be sure to head over to check out the full gallery!

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen/Guardian
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor
Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac 5
Sam Witwer as Agent Liberty
Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer
April Parker Jones as Colonel Haley
David Ajala as Manchester Black
Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves
Robert Baker as Otis Graves
Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El

Waiting on the movies to get this ambitious with the material.

I dont watch the CW shows but I always catch the crossovers. They're fun and make great use of some of the classic stories.

Looks good

@mastakilla39 - DC TV isn't that fun and lighthearted anymore. Titans and Oliver murdering people on Arrow would suggest otherwise.

@mastakilla39 - everything on the right side of this meme is inaccurate and misleading.

Marvel movies are not all fun and lighthearted. Some are actually quite serious and even dark to some extent.

The Arrowverse is not all fun and lighthearted. Arrow is pretty gritty and serious, as is Black Lightning and Gotham. Flash and Supergirl, sure those are typically fun and lighthearted; same with Legends.

That's not to say you can't have humor in a gritty and serious show, but blankly calling all Marvel movies or all DC TV fun and lighthearted is just a lie. Even Marvel TV has plenty of fun and lighthearted moments.
