'Lucy Lane' Is Coming To SUPERGIRL; Are We Getting A Love Triangle...Or 'Superwoman'?

Lucy Lane played a minor role in Smallville, and she's now set to make her presence felt in Supergirl, the upcoming comic book drama from CBS.

TV Line reports that CBS is now looking to add Lucy Lane to the cast of Supergirl. Little is known about this take on the character, but she's expected to be around mid-20s to early 30s and is described as being as "brash, funny and beautiful as her sister Lois, yet strong, smart and successful in her own right." The hunt for an actress to fill the role is ongoing as Lucy will make her first appearance in the show's third episode. Just like in the comics, she will be the ex-girlfriend of James Olsen, and the site speculates that this could lead to a lover triangle involving those two and Kara. They also point out that Lucy at one point became Superwoman after being manipulated by her father to target Supergirl. It's too soon to say how much of that will factor into the series though! You may recall that The Flash's Peyton List previously played Lucy in Smallville

So basically we're going to have more references to characters who aren't involved?
"Oh my sister LOIS, she knows A LOT about the BLUE AND RED GUY, she's a famous REPORTER"

God why is it always when they describe a female character "strong, smart," blah blah blah. I hate those words. Males don't go around boasting about how strong they are unless they are douchebags.

No, that doesn't need to happen.

That's what we call a stupid idea.

Feels like they're hinting at this show being connected to the DCCU universe but not at the same time.

Is there gonna be Bryce Wayne, the younger brother of Bruce Wayne?
How about Yod? the 3 cousin 2x removed of Zod?

When it said "love triangle", my mind went a totally different direction than ex-girlfriend of James Olsen.

I hope we get to see Lexi Luthor, the sister of Lex Luthor, who is actually a clone that developed female parts/

Fan cast time, I say give Jacqueline McInnes Wood some love,
She was the original Sara Lance but they replaced her - perfectly with Caity Lotz of course - but still, poor girl

I feel this show is repeating all the weaknesses and mistakes of Smallville. That's exactly the problem with OP Kryptonians on a TV budget and a poopy rogues gallery.

Lucy was an obvious choice with the government involvement. And of course that means her father won't be far behind.

I get the impression that at least ONE of you doesn't realize that Lucy Lane is an established character from the comic books, and not just some lame knock-off created for the show with a sound-alike name and a tangential connection to a famous Superman character.

... I mean, sure, she's a LAME character, but she's at least a legitimate one.

I think this is kinda cool... but it strikes me as bizarre that this is now the second character who appeared in the Supergirl movie but who isn't a typical Supergirl supporting character that is now appearing on the show (the first being Jimmy Olsen). Weird...

Well, in the comics she usually has to deal with krypton, goes dark or has to choose between krypton and earth. She doesn't have much of a rogues gallery. She's also a red lantern.
I'm really curious what they are going to do with her. I hope she goes dark tbh.

But that seems kind of too much for TV.

It was actually the only Supergirl solo book story in that volume that I enjoyed. The suit ends up mutating her DNA into an actual Kryptonian.
