Ahead of next Tuesday's long-awaited sixth and final season premiere of Supergirl, The CW has released the action-packed official trailer for the beginning of the end as the Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist) and her Superfriends make their last stand against the madman Lex Luthor (Jon Cryer).
This will be the first episode to air in nearly a year, after the fifth season was cut short due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent production shut down. Like The Flash, the first few episodes will wrap up last season's primary storyline before moving into the overarching arc for the final season.
While details are mostly being kept under wraps for what to expect this season, the premiere will pickup almost immediately after the event's of last season's finale with Brainiac (Jesse Rath) on the brink of death and Lex inching closer and closer to global destruction, forcing Kara to pull out all the stops to bring an end to his reign of terror.

SEASON PREMIERE - As Brainiac (Jesse Rath) lays close to death after trying to stop Lex (Jon Cryer), Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team soar in to save him, engaging in an epic battle with Gamenmae (guest star Cara Buono). After beating Leviathan, Supergirl turns her attention to Lex (Jon Cryer) who has used the Obsidian platform to brainwash half the world to love him and follow him at all costs, no matter what horrible things he does. Knowing how dangerous this makes her brother, Lena (Katie McGrath) enlists the entire team - Alex (Chyler Leigh), J'onn (David Harewood), Dreamer (Nicole Maines), Kelly (Azie Tesfai) and Brainiac - to help, but Supergirl realizes that the only way to truly stop Lex is to sacrifice herself.
