By the way a few cringe worthy moments in the beginning, but I really love this show!!!!!!

Also the CGI is pretty good!!!!!!

Hopefully they will clean up some of the campy writing........

@Goldstarman

The show is solid to say the least, like I said before they just need to clean up some of the cheesy dialogue. Beyond that the show is solid!

LOL! Thanks, no the difference is I am not afraid to point out the negative aspects of any DC show or movie.

It is not perfect but I also get they are going after a female audience, hence why it is on Monday nights....... up against MNF!

I agree. Supergirl fills a niche that the other superhero shows don't. It's great that they are all a little bit different from one another. I know exactly what your saying about your daughter, and I'm sure she is not alone by a long shot. And, it's a show the whole family can enjoy for different reasons. It's kind of a throwback show. Something about it is nostalgic in a weird, but fun way.

This episode was pretty good. Some of the writing and acting needs a bit of work, but none of them are really from Melissa Benoist, so it's not much of a problem. I wish they would've explored more into her needing to work on saving people without causing problems because I did enjoy her working with the two friends to train and work on saving people.

I think the special effects are decent, but could use some improvements. Guess that's a budget reason. I'm not so sure about the evil Aunt, she's not that good tbh. I loved that actress in Royal Pains though.

Supergirl is cute and I can appreciate it, and I'm glad others like it.

Can't really compare Marvels Netflix shows to this or The CW fare. Totally different levels.

Original = Mary Marvel sister of Captain Marvel
Mary Marvel's creator then made Supergirl = Kar Danvers
Then came Carol Danvers as an homage to Supergirl
Carol Danvers then became Ms Marvel before losing her powers to Rogue, and then becoming Binary, finally to return as Captain Marvel
Now, DC owns Captain Marvel, Ms Marvel's brother, but he has to be called Shazam

Hopefully the writing improves, reduce Ally Mcbeal's scenes and cut down bringing up Superman. They mention the man of steel way too much if they are looking to make Karol her own character.

My GOD this show is trying too hard. I mean, either be faux feminist or be Superman dick-riders, DON'T TRY TO DO BOTH. And for god's sake, no more air battles. That was horrible. I admit that the storyline has potential, if they can fix the crappy writing and maybe kill off her "Jimmy"(that other guy, her male Felicity, who's name isn't worth remembering, not sexy former-football-playing-obvious-potential-love-interest black Jimmy)it may be worth watching the rest of the season. Maybe.

On the Brightside, Flash had a great cameo by King Shark last week! YAY!!!

There's a lot of good here, but the formula is tired. The "I don't know if I can be a superhero" drama only really works when there are other stakes involved. Like Spider-Man's constant concern that villains will find out about his loved ones. But Supergirl doesn't really have that. She has a bunch of people telling her "you're not good enough".

Which could be a great way to set up her shoving it back in their faces because she actually believes in her own awesomeness (empowerment!), but her biggest wet blanket is her sister who she loves and respects. Shwang wang wang...

At least Flash is surrounded by people cheering for him, so the only thing stopping him from being awesome is his own self doubt (and when he overcomes that, it's good television). I think I'm at a place where just being a competent standard superhero show doesn't do much for me. I'll watch it, and I hope it does well (primarily to incentivize television executives to continue pushing forward with the genre), but I don't get the slightest bit excited by it.

And also, the Jimmy Olsen thing still bothers me. I do feel like the DC shows (CW excepted) really just trade on the marketability of their big two names but only ever constantly teasing something that 1) aint' that great to begin with and 2) they're never going to deliver. And that's sort of tiresome after a while (especially if Krypton gets off the ground... yeesh).

Wait wait wait, am I see praise being given to DC for the lighthearted approach of this show, and negativity being spread for the darker tone Marvel Netflix shows? You guys see what's wrong with this picture right? Now Supergirl should be a lighthearted show and should receive praise for it, but what's wrong with DD and JJ being dark? Why is it okay that Supergirl tone is right but not DD and JJ?

Liking this show a lot. Hope it doesn't totally rely on the alien of the week motif (Livewire best not be an ET). And how the hell did Supergirl pierce her ears?

I do not like DC too much because of Superman. It's been Marvel for me for years but this show for some reason is appealing to me. Maybe because she plays the geek role so well and that she reminds me of William Katt in the Greatest American hero (one of my favorite shows from the past).

Two episodes in and people criticize what's going on with the character. Do you think the other characters close to Supergirl will continue to doubt her? Of course not. Do you think Supergirl will always be associated with the para-military organization? Maybe not. Sometimes I think a lot of viewers have some sort of ADD when it comes to what these types of shows need...character development. If your going to show a "super hero" that's well into their tenure, then those points of origin are moot. But, if your going to start with the donning of the costume and the start of the mission, things are not always gonna be smooth sailing. I think this attitude was heaped upon Arrow too in the beginning. People should relax and just wait and see where the journey takes us.

Also. I find it a little ironic that some people who thought that the tone of Man of Steel veered too far from that of Superman: The Movie, but now criticize the Supergirl TV series for emulating that same tone. Let's face it, DC is purposefully separating the tone of their TV universe from their cinematic universe. Now, Marvel seems to be doing the same thing in reverse. It's like the right and left Twix Bar. I for one don't think one company "has it over" the other. I've said it more than once on various posts thru out this site, what we have now is a treasure trove of wonderful live action comic book themed entertainment. Sometimes I just shake my head at the negativity, and for the life of me can't figure out why?

I really love comicbook anything especially seeing them come to life, but in reality this show is pretty bad. Cheesy dialog and the whole Supergirl has to prove herself thing??? Come now she freakin SUPERGIRL enough said! The best thing this show does is tie itself to to Man Of Steele movie, and if it makes it past the first season, seasons 2 highlight will be them mentioning Batman thats it.

I thought episode 2 was an improvement on episode 1.

I'm enjoying it! I think the show is very similar to The Flash in feel. And surprised at special effects quality.

I wish they didn't spend so much time TELLING US that she's a female superhero, and just show us she's a superhero that happens to be female.
