After spending much of the episode trying to train Alexa (Sara Garcia) while Iris (Candice Patton) unearthed Psych's (Ennis Esmer) real identity, Barry (Grant Gustin) still found himself on the losing end by the conclusion of the hour when the Speed Force (Michelle Harrison) launched a devastating surprise attack on his family.
Meanwhile, Joe (Jesse L. Martin) dealt with the sudden return of Kristen Kramer (Carmen Moore), who brought an unexpected weapon back with her, ultimately leading Joe to leave his job at the CCPD.
While the plot synopsis for next week's installment isn't particularly revealing, it will presumably see Barry reaching the end of the line, and possibly on the verge of making an unimaginable decision to put down the Speed Force once and for all.
