The Creators Of YOUNG JUSTICE: OUTSIDERS Learned The Show Would Return Just Days Before The Announcement

After its cancellation back in 2013, Young Justice fans rejoiced when it was announced that the program would return for a third season. And while it's unsurprising that the showrunners heard the big news before the rest of the world, it may surprise you to know when they learned the series was returning

"Ten days before the announcement," Greg Weisman told ComicBook.com, revealing that they were informed about the renewal shortly before everyone else. "They talked to us about it being a maybe, but we didn't know for sure until ten days before."

It's rather shocking to hear that the folks in charge of creating the story for Young Justice: Outsiders knew what was coming only days before fans, and it may make some wonder if they were prepared to return to their old positions.

Fortunately, that doesn't seem to be a serious concern, as animator Phil Bourassa noted that he and the showrunners  "had been talking about" a third season before the show was officially set to return.

I can't believe it'll be 6 years between the last episode and season 3. Makes the revival of this show seem even more unimaginable.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Well, they put a 5-year gap between season 1 & season 2 for no apparent reason... so why not LOL

Quality aside, I'm pretty thrilled to be living in an age where these revival shows are actually happening. They are actually paying attention to what we want instead of insisting they know what is what. Revivals of fan favorite shows and comic book movies aplenty. Hell of a time to be a nerd. Hell of a time.

The writing better be as tight as Justice League (Unlimited).
They knew how to juggle characters and tell compelling stories so I hope to see improvements in the new season.

crazy we're getting this AND apparently Teen Titans back. What a world.

@Snowbirdd - A crossover (between worlds) would be cool to see. I would like to see Greg Cipes' Beast Boy seeing the sibling bond between YJ's Beast Boy and Miss Martian. He'd probably be a bit jealous, but also happy for his multiverse counterpart. Also Robin (Richard Greyson) running into his older (Nightwing) self would also make for interest interactions.

I liked young justice, it had great action and drama, with the justice league being sidelined and the teen sidekicks having to step up and prove themselves. If they werent doing that cheesy teen titans tv show then they could have set something like that up for the cinematic universe.

@Presto76 - Also the superboy arc was really well done, where he allied himself with Lex in order to get his power ups. They had some really interesting arcs, and were more flawed than the adult heroes. This could go on for another few seasons for sure.
