GAME OF THRONES Season 8 Will Reportedly Film Several Different Endings For The Series Finale

In an attempt to stop the spoiler-y details of the final ever episode of Game of Thrones getting out, HBO is reportedly planning to shoot multiple endings for the series finale. More past the jump...

Before season 7 of Game of Thrones aired, detailed spoilers for the entire seven-episode run leaked online. Clearly not wanting a repeat of that situation, HBO is reportedly taking steps to ensure that the secrets of the series finale stay hidden.

According to HBO programming president Casey Bloys, the network is planning to shoot multiple endings, which means even the main cast members won't know which outcome they'll be running with until the season 8 finale airs.

"I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens,” Bloys was quoted as saying. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”

What do you guys think of this strategy? Will it put a stop to the spoilers? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments section, and let us know how you think Game of Thrones is going to conclude while you're at it.

That's pretty common practice, yes.

The only thing that will stop spoilers is if people stop wanting them. As long as people continuously view spoiler articles and download and view the 15 trailers and 28 tv spots for a movie that show pretty much the entire film, then studios will keep pumping them out and sites will continue to feed us this stuff.

Only when we all say "enough... we aren't going to click"... that is when t will stop.

@TomSolo - Personally, my guess is that the real fear is some hacker releasing the finale early, and spoiling it for everyone (even mainstream news would pick up a story like that, making it hard, or at least harder, to avoid). In this case, what I imagine they're doing is taking the spoilery-est (RIP English) scene or scenes and shooting multiple endings so that the true ending is unknown even to the cast, and then editing in the correct ending with as little time to spare as possible.
