David Benioff and D.B. Weiss speak at length about Game Of Thrones to The Daily Beats. But one excerpt caught my eye as the duo reveal more about the (potential) second season of the show. Yes, there is always the chance that this will go the way of so many other great HBO tv series(Deadwood, Carnivale), but given the huge praise heaped on the show's pilot by those luck enough to see a special preview, and the very positive fan reaction so far, it seems likely that a second season(at least) will happen.

But what will make it from the books and what wont? Well, it seems like many of the fan favorite characters will get a look in if Weiss and Benioff have anything to do with it..

Usually, if you're lucky enough to get a second season, you've already got your cast in place," said Benioff. "With this season, it's almost like recasting"

"We have to start killing more characters to make room for the new ones," interrupted Weiss.

And who would those new characters be? "I'd love to tackle Melisandre," said Benioff of Book 2's malevolent red priestess. Weiss mentioned Ygritte, who becomes a figure of importance to Jon Snow, and the mysterious Jaqen H'ghar, a suspected member of a sect of assassins. ("He's fun too," said Benioff. "He doesn't really show up this season, but he'll be a big player next season.") Then there's the so-called Onion Knight, Davos Seaworth, who, Weiss said was their producing partner's favorite character.

"There's just something about a guy who was a smuggler who's now serving authority," said Benioff. "There are laws he has to break, but he's forced to carry around his own finger bones."

That at least sounds like Jaquen H'ghar is a definite! Which characters would you guys most like to see? Click the link below to read the full interview. game Of Thrones premiers April 17th.

I'd love to see Robert Carlyle from 28 Weeks Later and SGU as Davos. I feel very confident they will get another season. Edmure Tully and The Blackfish are two
other characters I'm excited to see. I'd cast Damien Lewis from Band of Brothers as Edmure.

Ror Hodor has already been cast! Kristian Nairn will be playing him!

Hodor! LOL! I'm wondering who will play Brienne, but that's a while off yet.

Agreed about Brienne. The Maid of Tarth and Vargo Hoat are the two that I want to see portrayed on the "small screen." Or perhaps because it's HBO we can upgrade that to the Medium Screen?

I think Melisandre would be too easy, in that she's kinda the a-typical bad guy kinda person. She looks, talks, acts that part. Whether she's truly bad or not, who knows.

yeah, hodor's pretty important from early on in the first book.

melisandre goes hand in hand with him, but seeing stannis'll be sweet. he becomes really important in book 2 and i haven't seen anything about him being cast at all.

also asha and the rest of the iron bourne.

The books do make it pretty economical for the production company. They kill off so many characters so they have room to make way for new ones.
