The scene appears at episode tenth of the first season. HBO and the series creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss apologizes.

We will give a good reason to see again your first season Game of Thrones on Blu-ray or DVD. Have you noticed that one of the heads that appear next to the beheaded Ned Stark is identical to that of former President George W. Bush?

This is how it looks:

However, although the creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recognized the resemblance to Bush on the DVD comments, it seems that both HBO and they had to apologize to prevent any claims.

This is the apology published by Deadline:

HBO: We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss: We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can’t afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush.

In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise.

You think it's an exaggeration or it's better remove this scene in the following editions? The truth is that those who had bought already, now they have a version that will cost more at eBay ...

As a former public figure, Bush can't come after people. Sorry, but while celebrities may be able to trademark their own likenesses, politicians can't.

Why do they find this so offensive? It was merely a coincidence that the head looked like George W. Bush's. It's not like they were completely trashing him, much like other shows do. Besides, I must admit that it was amusing to see the severed head of one of our nation's worst Presidents.

freedom in the US is an illusion, especially with the NDAA and Trespass Bill. soon harmless protesters will be called "terrorists" just to speak out; if you challenge IN ANY WAY the establishment you're done, even if it's just a slight insult like this one.

Well, a War Crimes Tribunal just found Bush, Cheney and Blair guilty and they are refusing to extradite so...

That on top of multiple canceled trips to Europe and Canada to avoid being arrested.

So much for the first ammendment! They even acknowledge that it was inadvertant and that it is not supposed to represent the man himself at all. Just a spare prop used for the scene. If we start apoligizing and even go so far as to delete these types of things, we're really not that far away from burning books. Rediculous!

That is a sick and despicable act of desecration against the United States of America and everything it stands for. If it was an accident, damn them. If it was intentional, hang them. George W. Bush, like him or not, was elected "by the people, for the people" to the office of President of the United States and this office should be revered beyond any political affiliations. The *people* elected him and he should, along with every other President, be given the respect he deserves as a former Commander-In-Chief.

Just so I'm clear: Yes, I am a supporter of George W. Bush. We have yet to have another terrorist attack on the United States since 9/11 and this is due in no small part to his policies. He was a great President if you care about the facts. He was a horrible President if you buy "media"-bullshit. That being said, I would still be appalled if this was Jimmy Carter** on a stake or, God-forbid, Barrack Obama**. I'm a hardcore conservative Republican -- and I believe those two** were/are the worst and most destructive Presidents in our nation's history -- but they were elected "by the people" just the same, to the highest office in the land, and this demands respect from all Americans. This reprehensible act, regardless of politics, is totally unacceptable and I defy anyone who would applaud this as "freedom of speech".

If you're an American who doesn't accept the principle of "God and country" as sacred -- if you hate this land, the land I love -- please leave, no one is keeping you here. My country is too great for degenerates like you to reap its benefits. Go find somewhere "better". I dare you.

It's only a "sick and dispicable act of desicration" agains GW, not the United States, and then only if it's intentional and you are led to believe that that is SUPPOSED to be his head in the story.

It wasn't. It's just someone prop guy using any head he can get his hands on for a scene. Talk about overreacting!!!!

@ BatmanisBaddest. Someones title doesn't automatically earn them respect. It is the actions that person does with their title that earns them respect. The war criminal Bush Jr, the Sr Bush and the traitor Prescott Bush have shown that they don't represent or respect the american people in any way so why should anyone respect him.
